One Punch Man: Half Asleep Hero

A young woman is attacked by a monster after having given up on her dreams to be a hero. She tries to fight off the monster but is eventually overpowered, after being rescued at the last second, she becomes determined to be the strongest damn hero this world has ever seen. I made the cover, I drew that shit, took me 2 and a half hours. I am gonna be real. I don’t want to edit this or even write season 2, so it’s just gonna be my first public fanfic. I might if it somehow gains traction which I highly doubt. Anyway, this is pretty much completed.

A King

Several explosions came from buildings not too far away from the one I had perched myself upon.

The threat is obviously there, thank god for my incredible luck. Otherwise I would be wandering City J for hours.

I immediately flew off toward the explosions but, once again, found the area empty. I am always just one step behind.

"What the hell!? It can't be that fast!" I complained as I took a look around the area.

Based on the size of the destruction, the monster should be fairly large, or strong.

"Well, off to search again."

This wild goose chase was starting to get on my nerves, to the point where I just started walking instead of flying.

'Wait, did the ones who evacuated to the shelter escape after that?' I was worried.

The shelter was strong, but the monster had already obliterated several buildings, so there was next to no chance the shelter would survive it too.

Right no cue, a giant surge of flames came from the direction of the shelter.

Towards me.

Why does this have an attraction to me!

I barely dodged the unexpected attack, and found a straight route toward the source of the flames.

If the monster was on the weaker side, that attack may have taken it out, but I wasn't going to assume it was weak, especially considering it already took out an S Class, no matter if it's the weakest one.

Since it was a straight shot now, thanks to Genos destroying everything, I took the opportunity and flew immediately to the area.

As soon as I arrived, I saw a large fish man sneak up on Genos and rip off one of his arms, as well as damage his face armour, completely cracking it.

"Now I'm angry." I heard the fish man start.

"I will tear you to shreds." Despite the threat he said it in a sort of unsettlingly calm way.

"Genos! You moron!" I got angry at him.

He lets his guard down way too often. I even noticed him do it in the spar he had with Saitama after we became heroes a couple of weeks ago.

"Another one?" The fish man turned around, a little surprised to see someone airborne.

Genos, having noticed my arrival, gave instructions to the citizens in the shelter, "Those of you who can move, leave the shelter immediately. I cannot promise that we will win. Run, while we keep him busy!"

Of course, Genos' "we" sparked some confusion, as I was above the shelter at an angle where only the fish man could see me, and Genos was the only one who heard me other than him.

They hesitated to run, but Genos reinforced his point, "Get out of here!" and he blasted toward the fish man.

"None of you monkeys, will ESCAPE ME!" The fish man stated in a crazed voice.

Genos, who had already launched himself forward, passed the fish man by accident, but I followed up by kicking him in the head.

I had only fallen, and didn't propel myself, so with his strength it was more like a bird landing on his head.

I didn't want to accidentally launch him closer to the escaping victims.

Genos suddenly launched himself back toward the fish man, landing a swift spin kick to his face.

This resulted in me launching myself off of his head and allowing Genos to hit him with all he had with one arm left.

Genos quickly took an advantage despite his singular arm and launched him through the top of the shelter and blasted him with flames.

I followed up, dashing through the flames with a kick to his back, launching him even further upwards.

Genos seemed to be putting everything he had and then some into the fight, as he smashed the fish man's head in, launching him into the roof of the shelter, but not through it.

Then came the machine-gun of blows as Genos beat him into the ground.

I was still above the shelter at this point, waiting for an opportunity to cut in for a surprise attack.

As soon as Genos and the monster reached a stalemate, with him holding back the pressure of a heavy attack, that was my opportunity.

"You can do it!" A cheer from the crowd passed my ears as I set my body ablaze.

"Shut it!" A yell that I heard from the fish man, followed by him spitting something toward the kid.

My opportunity disappeared as Genos panicked and escaped the pressure of his arm.

Then, Genos melted into muscle and bone. I couldn't see that from the hole anymore, so I put out the flames surrounding me and went back around through one of the large holes Genos made earlier.

I don't know what the fish man spat, but Genos probably evaporated it or something.

Before I went back down, there was a crash on the other side of the building.

Thinking Genos probably knocked him through the shelter again, I flew over, ready to combo with him.

But the body outside wasn't the fish man.

It was Genos.

Body destroyed to the point where only loose wires, and bits of muscle and bones remained.

I assumed he was dead. With something like that, I was sure of it.

As far as I knew, nothing could survive being mutilated like that.

One of my eyes flashed from green, to yellow, to orange to red in an instant, then the sclera of my eyes went black, much like Genos'.

I set my body ablaze again, and I came down like a comet.

If I was able to think right then I would probably think, "This would look really cool."

"Shooting star!" An enraged voice, much deeper than usual came from my mouth.

I wasn't hearing any dialogue that the fish man had as he stepped out of the building.

I just wanted it dead.

In a giant pillar of flames, I came down on the fish man.

He seemed to have completely forgotten about me, as I smashed his tacky crown into his head, bending the edges of the crown inward along with his skull.

Concrete exploded upward like a cannonball shot into water. The sounds of thunder bellowing along with the hit.

Following that, I punched as violently as I could, leaving dent after dent in his overly muscled torso. Every punch sounded like the thunder above.

I didn't notice, but his body seemed to get larger and larger along with the rainfall.

Not that I would care, as I was still hammering into him, dealing more damage than his regeneration could recover.

A/N: Rage mode like a certain Kabuto I once knew.

The rain and thunder imaging makes this scene "look" much more intense.

I will be thanking those who have given power stones to my shitty fanfic that is copying so much of the story at this point...
