The thrill of a task well done always piqued my interest. Being called into action as a doctor, particularly when a newborn was concerned, was an adrenaline rush unlike anything I'd ever experienced.
That was before to the arrival of Addison Cortez in my life. After all, what's next after her? After her, the rest of the world seemed insignificant.
I threw away my scrubs and walked over to the dressing room sink, kneeling over it. I sprayed cold water in my face while standing and reaching for a towel, clenching my teeth.
"Man, that's a hell of a job back there."
I smiled at Andrew, a fertility specialist and my best friend and fellow doctor. We'd grown up together, although he'd left the hospital to become the resident medical director of a high-end fertilization clinic in downtown. But he still had his association at the hospital, and they preferred to call both of us in when there was an urgent situation like the one we'd just dealt with.
