3 New life, New friends

I had showered, taken breakfast and had 1.5 hours of sleep. Now i was left with a few more minutes before vic came banging on my door.

I did not have much in the luggage. I wanted to carry as least of my past as possible. A few dresses, toiletries etc. I was confused as to what to wear. I had never been abroad before. I had no idea of the customs and culture here. Finally i decided that black is the safest option no matter the occasion.

I am 5'6, curvy and fair girl with wavy ,bouncy and brown hair of waist length. They are soft, silky and shiny. I always prided myself on my hair. The only regret i always had was my figure. Even after attending to aerobics classes and being fairly fit, my ass seems to spill out my clothes and my boobs seem to be over curious to peek at the world beyond.

The dress i wore was conservative. A lil above knee. Round but boat necked and not too fitting. I put some mascara to my hazel colored eyes and a just a hint of pink lip gloss completed my make up. I was never good at this anyway. I left my hair open and the cell phone rang. Guess my time was up. I had 10 seconds to present myself before Her Highness or she would bang my door down and take me off to her castle.

Amyway i was done. I put on my black stilletoes( nothing could be more uncomfortable than these high heeled bitch) and ran, as fast as one could in stilletoes, towards the hotel's exit.

A cab was parked just to my right. And Victoria, well, no picture of her could have done her justice. She was so much more beautiful in person. I instantly smiled when she saw me. I was so happy to have finally meet her. She came running towards me and engulfed me in her embrace. It felt so nice to have someone so close in this foreign land. I was going to ruin my mascara. I took deep breaths and patted the corner of my eyes dry. I could see, even vic was affected. We smiled tearfully at each other. She held both of my hands and asked " How are you Mia?"

I smiled and replied " Now I am really really good. I missed you so much."

Vic said " same here. I was so excited to meet you that I couldn't sleep last nite. And by the way, you really look amazing. You have the most innocent face and most inviting body i have ever seen"

I couldn't help but smile. This was my vic, seeing beauty in plain boring me.

I said " Thanks vic but u too look really amazing" on which she laughed and we headed towards cab.

Vic wore a short lenght olive green skirt and a white top. When i had embraced her I noticed she was wearing an amazing cologne and the fabric of her dress was awesome. I always assumed her to be of my type financially but maybe she was better off. I became a little uncomfortable. My parents always taught me to have friendship with people of one's own level and social strata. But this wasn't the time to think all this.

I was curious so i asked " where are we headed?"

She said " There's a good sea view restaurant just few blocks away. We'll go there, have some fun and then you are coming back to my place"

I was confused. " vic, i told you i am not staying with you. Please let me find my footing here. Let me have a job and then we can think about all this."

Victoria rolled her eyes and said," let's reach the restaurant first, have something put in your poor tummy and meet Alex. Maybe food and Alex's advice could knock some sense into you"

I jerked my head towards her " Alex has also come to meet?"

It was a lovely surprise. Alex was vic's fiance and childhood friend. He was handsome and caring and it felt really good a few times i had talked to him.

Vic beamed at my question," Did you really think either of us could not have come to meet you? We both were so happy and excited that you were shifting to London"

I was so deeply touched by this.

"You are going to ruin my mascara, girl" I playfully admonished.

"Awwww baby doll, the time for tears is up. Now all you have to do is smile and smile till your cheeks hurt."

To this, i laughed. Yes, London seemed so much more amazing now.

We arrived at the restaurant. It was so beautifully decorated.

With an amazing view of the sea. The restaurant looked chic and expensive. And I thought about a few pounds in my clutch. Vic seemed to notice my hesitation.

" Everything all right , Mia? You look a bit unhappy. Don't you like the place?" asked victoria. I quickly hid my discomfort behind my smile and said " No, not at all. I am fine and the place looks really amazing." Victoria seemed satisfied and smiled. We took our seats and ordered a mojito. I asked why Alex wasn't there. Vic informed me he was stuck in traffic and was hardly 5 mins away.

We took little sip of our mojito and chatted about our lives. Alex came after 15 mins and joined us. The love in their eyes was so apparent. Alex was such a sweet guy. He asked a lot of questions about me which I was happy to answer. He knew about my recent incidents and he expertly avoided asking questions about that part of my life.

Both Vic and Alex made me feel very comfortable. The waiter came with the menu and handed one booklet to each one of us.

I was shocked to see the prices. Each item on the menu could have bought a whole proper meal for a person. I looked at Vic and she seemed to be absorbed in deciding what to order. I took out my cell and typed her a message," the items are quite expensive"

Her cell dinged and she saw the message.

She typed something and then my phone beeped. I clicked on the message tab and saw her reply, " Shut up Mia, It's our treat."

I stood from my seat and asked vic to accompany me to the loo.

When we were inside the loo, i said" Vic it is not about anyone's treat" To which she argued, " Look Mia, We both are so happy to have you in London." She took both my hands in her and continued, " believe it or not Mia, you are my one and only true friend till now after Alex. No one has ever been good or truthful to me till date. Everyone wanted friendship with me because of a purpose. Now that I have a true friend, i will spoil her rotten. Please dont stop me from doing it." I opened my mouth to disagree but she put a finger on my lips saying, " Look Mia, we can have it your way. But you would be making me sad." Now, what on earth a person could say to that.? I nodded reluctantly.

We went back to the table. Alex raised a brow and Victoria smiled. She ordered on my behalf. I simply couldn't bring myself to order anything so expensive. Anyway, the meal arrived and as soon as i put first morsel in my mouth, my eyes closed with the sheer pleasure of the taste of the food. I simply forgot that where i was sitting and what was happening around me and i moaned. Victoria and Alex burst out laughing. I instantly opened my eyes and was so embarrassed. Victoria gave me an " I told you so" expression, and I couldn't help but smile.

We had a little chit chat and Alex told me more about London and the conversation got diverted to my accommodation. Victoria begged Alex to make me agree to stay at her place.Alex turned to me with a very serious expression and said, " Mia, just answer my one question." To which i said ," please ask."

He asked," Would you have let Vic stay at some random hotel had she shifted to Sydney?"

I stared at him stupefied. This was not fair. I said." Alex, how could you put me in this situation? This is so unfair" To which Alex smiled and said, " Either you are giving a satisfactory answer to this or you are staying with Victoria."

Victoria verbally attacked me on this, saying," Mia, think. I will be getting married in next few months. And then i will be moving in with Alex. We have not got much time to live like this. Please don't break my heart."

I stared at them. How could they gang upon me and that too with these undeniable logics.

I said to both of them, " I will need some time. I will think about it."

Victoria said," Fine, I don't want to push you but do think about it seriously." To which i nodded. Actually so much had happened in such a small span of time that i needed some me time. I wanted to prove myself that i could survive on my own. I said ," If you guys find any opening for me, please do let me know. Meanwhile i will continue my job hunt."

Victoria said," Actually i have an opportunity for you. There is a vacancy of Finance manager in a company. I had forwarded your resume and you have an interview tomorrow morning. I forgot to inform you." I was dumbfounded. She had an interview arranged for me and she forgot? I did not know how to react to this. Should i smack her for keeping this news till now or should i kiss her for finding me an opportunity.?

I smacked her and then smiled, " i cant believe you already found an opening for me. Thank you so much dear. I really don't know how to thank you enough."

Vic asked ," if you really wanna thank me, then move in with me." And to my own surprise i said," yes, I will"

Victoria shrieked. Again. Thankfully the restaurant was empty at this time.

And we all smiled. I yawned. The exertion of the day was catching up on me.
