The Creatures

Her eyes fluttered open. She realized that she was back to the castle like mansion. Her brows creased and her eyes opened wide in shock trying to materialize what she was doing back here in the mansion or was it a dream. She shook her head in denial to what her mind was saying. Everything gradually replayed in her head.

"It wasn't a dream." And with that, she stood up quickly from the bed, running to the door and saw the man who was about opening the door at the doorstep as she opened it. She rushed in for a tight hug.

"Thank goodness you're okay." She said starting to tear up. "I was scared to death that something bad might have happened to you." She broke the hug and wiped her tears away staring at him with her blurry eyes. "Th...there were these things and..."

"You need to drink this Jane." He said showing her a glass of something in his hand.

He walked further in to the room and sat on the bed. She walked in shortly and sat beside him.

"What....."

"Drink this." He said placing the glass cup in her hand.

She drew the cup away from her nose as she sniffed the awful smell. "What is this?"

"It's an ancient medication. It will help you heal faster."

"D... don't worry, I'm....."

"I'm pretty sure you had an internal bleeding. So drink it. It will help with that."

She looked at him and drew the cup closer to her nose. The stench could make anyone want to puke from smelling it. Gosh! If it smells so bad, she wondered how it'll taste like.

"No, no, no. I.. I can't do this." She said smiling in an awkward way.

He sighed and pulled the cup closer to her mouth but she threw her face the other way not to smell such an awful thing.

"If you don't drink it, you'll only start to bleed again. I don't want that to happen."

She looked at him with her breath held because the cup was closer to her nose.

"I'll only drink it on one condition." She said.

He retorted his hand back at his sides. "What is it?"

"Only if you answer my questions."

"I told you not to file up questions for me right?"

She remembered him saying that and she reluctantly agreed due to her eagerness to go along with him. She bit her lip. "I know. I just want you to answer one. Just one." She said with pleading eyes.

He sighed. "Only if you finish it."

That meant a yes to her. She held her nose tight preparing to gulp down the entire glass of this so-called thing. A little touched her tongue and her face scrunched up due to its extreme bitterness. She looked at him and breathed out as if preparing to go for a war. She held her nose tightly again and gulped down everything in one go.

Her hand clenched the bedsheets into tight fist balls trying to control herself from not throwing up from what ever it is she drank.

"Okay, I'm ready." She said after a while of adjusting her taste and body from what she drank.

He looked into the blank space in front of him. "You can go ahead." He said not looking at her.

"What were those creatures?" She asked anxiously.

He sighed and stared up at the golden ceiling. "There were creature who hovered the earth so many years ago. They killed innocent people, removing premature babies from pregnant women and raping both young girls and women to death. It was said that they killed only those required to kill for the sacrifice to their master." He paused and continued. "A group of people were able to kill them and they locked their spirit in a far away place. They believed that if there spirit hovered around this earth, it would possess thousands of humans." He sighed. "Few days back, I got the information that a likely creature similar to the one in the past, was spotted. Their spirits has been released and reunited back with their dead bodies buried in the past and now, they've grown stronger and larger. They've probably spread out to different countries in the world."

Her heartbeat increased in her chest and a horrified look etch on her face. She hadn't heard such a thing like this in her entire life. What was going to happen to the world now.

"Creatures like those existed in the past? And now...Now they're back? But why and how?" She muttered to herself reaching his ears. She looked at him. "But....But how did you get to know such things. I mean...I'm sure they're millions of people out there that no such a thing. So how?"

"You said one question Jane, and I did just that. Goodnight."
