"Do you need anything dear?" Her grandma asked him as the atmosphere cooled down.
His lips kept tearing to a wide smile. "I'm fine."
"Okay." She said and sat down next to her son. "So my dear, how may I help you?"
He blushed like he heard something mesmerizing. "Mrs Hien, Mr Ken," staring at them. "Do you mind if I may borrow your daughter for sometime."
Jane's heart skipped a beat in fear wondering why he needed to borrow her. Her parents turned to the frozen girl.
"Jane...." Her grandma spoke.
Jane gulped down. Her eyes moved from her grandma then to him. To her surprise, she saw nothing like the Felix she met at the party. His cold eyes now staring at her warmly, and his face covered with an earthly smile that perfected his face. For a no reason, she didn't feel scared anymore. She moved her gaze back to her parents.
"Okay." She managed to speak.
She saw the happiness that flickered in his eyes like she just said yes to his proposal. Her parents nodded at him and they stood up.
He opened his car door for her to enter and she entered. In a short while, the car sped off. She could feel nervousness exhibiting out from him. He kept staring at her continuously and kept driving. His face was filled with so much joy. She wondered within her why he was acting so strange. She hadn't seen this side of him.
Close to an hour of driving, the car finally halted close to the beach. It has gotten really dark and the moon was hiding behind the dark clouds, peeking a little light to the earth. The both of them walked to the sandy beach and stood before the calm sea. The breeze was cold and her body shivered a little. He removed his coat and wrapped it around her after noticing her shivering body.
"Thank you " She spoke, letting out a faint smile.
There was a long since that passed between them. He just kept glaring at her as if admiring her. His gaze moved to the calm sea where she was staring at and his hands dug in his pocket.
"You know...ever since my finacèe died, I closed all chapters of love." His voice so emotional.
Jane immediately turned her head to look at him. 'He had a finacèe?'
"After her death, everything in the world became dark. I saw nothing but thick darkness and my heart.....My heart became so void that I felt no remorse for anyone." He turned to the girl whose gaze was fixed on him. "Everything that I did to you and Lisa at the party, I'm really sorry. Forgive me."
Jane blinked her eyes twice. Now she understood the reason to his anger. It was true what they say. Don't judge a person without hearing their own side of the story, so she thought. Ever since, she thought he was just a hot tempered man born with such characteristics. Now she understood very clearly.
She let out a faint smile. "There's no need to apologize anymore. I've forgiven you a long time ago." Honesty written in her voice.
He smiled at her. "Thank you."
She nodded smiling at him and averted her gaze back to the calm sea.
He took her hands and the now stared at each other. "Love died the moment my fiancèe died." He paused and continued. "But ever since I saw you at the dining room, my heart whispered to me. You brought back alive what I thought I buried a long time ago." Everywhere went dead quiet and the cool breeze blew pass them and their eyes locked on each other. His eyes were filled with so much emotions that Jane found it weird. "I love you Jane."
Jane's heart skipped a beat and her heart beat fastened. She wasn't expecting those words from him. She immediately retracted her hands back to her side. Her body was cloaked in utter shock.
"I'm sorry..."
"I know you still love him." He spoke. "But the sad truth is, he will never love you back." He said ina convincing voice like he was one hundred percent sure.
"It's not.....
"Believe me when I say so." He sighed and took her right hand. "He won't love you and cannot love you Jane. It's the truth, even if you refused to accept it Jane."
A tear rolled down from her eyes. She knew what he was saying was nothing but the truth, but her heart refused to accept it. He leaned his face closer to her and cupped her face. He pushed his head forward till his forehead bumped on hers. He was planning to do the unexpected since their face was now close enough.
"Get your hands away from my woman."
