Cancelled Wish

Feeling her grandma's stiffened reaction, she slowly broke the hug and stared at her grandma worriedly. The look on her face got her worried. It's a type of expression that she hasn't seen on her grandma's face before.

"Grandma? Are you alright?" She asked, looking worried.

Then she realized how extremely quiet the hall had become. The people present all had the same expression splashed across their faces, as though someone had cast a spell on them. Her heart was pounding loudly in her chest as she wondered what they were looking at that got them to have a stiffened reaction on their faces. Slowly and steadily, she turned around. Her eyes flung open, and she also became stiff like the rest of them.

Francis was on his knee with a ring in his hand. He slowly brought her hand forward, and he began speaking while everyone quietly watched the whole scene.

"My life changed from the very first day you stepped into it. My body obeys, and my heartbeat increases just at the sound of your name. You became the moon that shone bright in my life during my darkest moments. You became the star that beautified my every day. Please give me the honor of calling you my wife. My better half for the rest of my life. To love, and to love you every single day till the end of the world. To love you endlessly and uncountably like the stars in the sky. Give me the honor to fulfill your last cancelled wish of being my wife, Jane Mai."

Cancelled wish? Jane had written on another page in her diary that her last wish was to get married. She has always dreamed of walking down the aisle and marching toward her husband. To put on a very beautiful white dress. But she thought it was impossible due to how her days were running out of time; hence, she cancelled out that wish.

Crystal tears of joy flowed down, unable to hold on to her emotions anymore. Everyone was desperately waiting for her answer. She just cannot believe he is this. proposing to her in such an aristocratic manner.

"Yes. Yes, I will." She spoke with tears in her eyes.

Everyone jammed their hands together, and he slid the ring onto her tiny, beautiful finger. He stood up and planted a kiss on her soft, tender lips. Her grandma was also shedding tears of joy. She just cannot believe that her little girl, who was just born yesterday, will be getting married. She turned to her grandma and wrapped her arms around her waist.

"Oh, my dear! May the heavens bless your new home." She spoke, crying.

The two of them just kept weeping on each other's shoulders. Her dad walked to Francis to congratulate him. None of them saw the engagement coming. Though, with their help, he had managed to arrange everything so perfectly, they never thought he'd be snatching their little girl away from them.

Francis, on the other hand, had thought that this would be a perfect day to do this. Her surgery is scheduled for the following day, and this might give her reason to fight for her life in the surgery room, so he decided to do it tonight. Now she'll have every reason to fight for her life so they can be together forever. If this is her last cancelled wish, she'll do everything and anything to survive this. He loves her so much, and this is the only thing he can think of for her to do—fight.

"Thank you, son." Her grandma spoke while kissing both his cheeks.

"I'll do everything and anything for your daughter." He spoke, not breaking contact with his soon-to-be wife.

She felt too emotional and went up to him and hugged him tight around his neck.

"I love you so much." She spoke, breaking out again.

"I love you more, wife. I love you."

Their lips jammed against each other. Everyone can't help but bless these two perfect couples together. They were just too perfect for each other.

Jane wished inwardly that her best friend was also here to experience all this magic. Knowing Lisa for years now, she knows very well that she and her grandma will both dress like fairies or one of them like a villain to give it some kind of special effect according to them. She'll say it's impossible to have only good people around with a bad wolf wearing sheep's clothing. It had always been Lisa's dream to see her little wormio get married. Lisa will always tell her that on the day Jane will be getting married, only burgers will be served. Since Jane is a lover of burgers, the guests will have no other option but to eat one. She chuckled at the thought of that. The two of them usually laugh over it, knowing that Lisa was only teasing her. But right now, she misses her best friend more than ever. She wished she was also standing here amongst the people that had gathered. She knew that by now, Lisa might have turned the aristocratic party into a club. She is just too full of fun, and that's one of the reasons why Jane loves her. If she were around, she'd tease Jane that she's a cry baby, and she and her grandma would be arguing over who should bless Jane first.

"It's time to go back now, wife. You cannot afford to stress yourself." He whispered in her ears.

She nodded at him and turned to her parents to say goodbye. The party will go on without them.
