"Grandma, Lisa invited me over for a party tonight. An anniversary party of her friend's parents." She said sitting on the bed.
"Hmmmm, I see." Her grandma said sitting on her rocking chair knitting a sweater. "So are you planning on attending?" She asked, her gaze and attention still on her knitting sweater.
"I already said yes, so I will."
"Okay." She paused for a while and spoke again. "How is your friend Lisa. It's been quite long since I last saw her."
"She's fine. I think she's just been busy with some things lately."
Jane's family had always been fond of Lisa. They knew she's the only friend their child have. Sometimes, Lisa spends some days with them. Jane's family always welcomed her with love and treated her like she was part of the family too. They're always happy to have her around. Lisa and grandma always entertained everyone with their silly jokes. They call themselves team HL.
"Okay. So what are you planning to wear to the party."
Jane sighed and let go of Jeremy, the cat. She was in her grandma's room. The room was spacious and only a few things can be seen. It wasn't that big. The bed was located in the middle of room leaning by the wall. Her rocking chair was close to her window. Her closet was at the right side of the bed. Though grandma didn't have much in her room but her closet was filled with clothes, shoes and hat. All styled. Grandma is like a god of fashion. She had little Jeremy with her. She's so fond of animals especially cats.
Jeremy, the cat went to his owner after she kept him on the ground.
"I don't know granny. I'll just have to put on whatever I have then." She replied lying on the bed she was sitting on earlier.
What she said made her grandma completely pause whatever she was doing and glared at her with a frown on her face. "There's no absolute way my grandchild will go to a party looking messed up like you always do."
"Grandma, I'm not always messed up." She said sitting down on the bed again.
Silence permeated the room for a while. Jane could see her grandma scanning her from her head to toe.
"I... I'm not that of a mess, am I?"
"Seeing what you're currently putting on, are you expecting me to answer that question of yours?" Her tone now changing to a more serious tone.
Realizing what her grandma just said, she scanned herself one more time and raised a brow at her.
"Well. I....I wasn't planning on going out today." She stuttered.
She was putting on an oversized green shirt that belonged to her dad, a pair of red sucks, and her hair packed into rough doubled-ponytail bun. Knowing her grandma, she probably looked awful if that was the perfect word to match with.
Her grandma loves fashion. Even though they weren't that rich, grandma always put in her best in whatever she puts on. She's in her late 60's but always dresses like she belongs in the Gen Y. People at that present age are nothing compared to what she puts on or how she dresses. Fashion and grandma has always been like bread and butter. Even when she's not going out that day, she'll always look her best.
Sometimes, grandma will scold her daughter-in-law for not looking sexy. Jane's mom preferred simple clothes. So her make-up, hair, clothes and the rest are always simple.
"Tsk tsk tsk." Shaking her head. "You should always look good everytime even if you have no plans of going out. For crying out loud Jane, you're a lady. A SINGLE LADY." Stressing those last words and pause her rocking chair. "Every lady, every woman should always look good. Looking good should be among your first five priorities in life."
She let out a frustrating sigh and lied back on the bed. "Yes grandma....."
"You know, your grandpa will always love me for that." She continued now smiling. "When I was at your age, I used to put on very nice and beautiful, sexy dresses for him. And that's one of the reason he loved me so much. But you, tsk tsk tsk," shaking her head again, "you're just like your mother. Always dressing rags."
"Hahahaha. Grandma, everyone have their own style of fa...Ouch, ouch, ouch." She screamed in pain because her grandma had already walked up to the bed dragging her ears softly and motioning her to get up from the bed. "Ouch. Please stop grandma."
She led her to the door and opened it still holding her ears.
"You never listen. Stubborn. Now move. Go prepare yourself so I can help you get ready for the party. There's no hellish way I'm letting my child go to a party looking like a clown. You understand." She said pinching her ears a little harder.
"Ouch, yes, yes. Roger that."
"Good." Finally letting go of her ears. "Now move." Pointing to the direction of the opened door and poor Jane obeyed her.
