Pre story

Another day had passed with mockeries. Adriana or Adri is the lady from the House of Wiselmbourg, a Marquis household, yet she didn't get the respect she ought to get. Did her mother come from a low family? No, she came from a Marquis family also. Was her mother a villainess? No, she wasn't, but she's too quiet it made her unapproachable.

It's also not because Adri herself is a villainess, but rather it's because of the some events that occurred far after her mother fell sick when Adri was 9 years old. Everyone in that house cried to her father so he would take another wife, because the illness of the first madam was said to be untreatable.

At first, the Marquis didn't really want to marry again, but for some reasons, he eventually took the hand of a maid who tended Adri's mother. It didn't caused many ruckus, because the maid or Sylviane came from the barony house. Many servants like her as she's so kind and did her job right.

Sylviane, who thought the Marquis will at least come to their first night, was utterly disappointed by his absence. Thus the harsh society of nobles would mock her everytime she goes out. The unlovable second bride was her nickname instead of the wife of the Marquis. It did leave a bitter taste to her tongue, but she continued to still tend to Adri's mother until her last day.

Years gone by and now Adri's at the age of marriage. Even though the Marquis still didn't bother to spend the night with Sylviane, he did give her the rights to be the madam of the house. To her surprise, all this time her mother left her behind, Sylviane treated her kindly and always took care of her lessons.

"Excuse me, my lady, the Marquis called for you to his office." said the butler of the house, Tim. Adri nodded and swiftly move her feet to her father's office. She knew, this will be the last time for her to be in her father's office as she went in and saw her father looking at a paper.

She greeted him and he told her to take a seat.

"Erdegold house has sent a proposal letter, the groom will be the first son of the barony family. You'll be the first lady of the household after the marriage. Are you willing to accept it?" The Marquis staring into Adri's eyes from behind his desk.

"Yes, Father. I will accept it."

The Marquis was taken aback for a second and when he comes to he moved his hand to wrote the acceptance letter. Then he excused her to get ready as the marriage will be held in a week.

Adri then went to her late mother's room, which not occupied by anyone since her death. To see it for the last time. To be honest, she didn't want the marriage, but that was her first conversation with her father after years and she can't let him down.

"Did you also feel like this when you're sent to be married to a man you hardly know, mother?"
