Chapter 39
As they ate, Gerde once again asked to be remembered and was rewarded with small bits of bacon. Neil cleaned up the kitchen while Rolf took a shower. Neil took his turn in the small enclosure, once again imagining what a shower with Rolf would someday be like.
When they finished dressing, they went to the door. Here they stopped and held each other before walking out onto the porch. It was as if both wanted to hold on to the wonderful time they’d spent together just a bit longer.
