Chapter 3 - DREAM

(DREAM) - REALITY FOR THE MIND TO MANIPULATE

There is a place that your mind imagines for you when things start to get rough, too much for you to handle on your own. Ava found herself in a forest, although she could not understand how she had landed in such a place, the forest had beautiful trees all around with dark green leaves, not to mention the beautiful flowery path she found herself walking on, there were beautiful white petals placed all over the ground almost like you could feel the softness of every path you took unwillingly, she walked with a smile on her face of course, simply filled with joy as she could at least escape from her unfair reality, forgetting about the path she had taken in order to get into the forest in the first place, she reached a house right in the deep ends of the forest, right outside the house stood a young boy, he had well groomed brunette hair, with a black t-shirt and greyish pants on, the little boy waved at Ava, and with upmost enthusiasm she waved back, making her way to the house.

The house was made out of wood, it had a cottage kind of feel to it, yet there was a touch of modern-ness about it. She entered the house and to her surprise the house had a very warm kind of atmosphere to it, the kind you get when you enter a house which has a big family in it ready to embrace every kind of emotion which each family member could emit.

What seemed odd to Ava was the absence of the owners of the house, even with all the warmness which the house had, there was still a lot missing from the house, and the boy she had entered the house with, what exactly had she gotten herself into. She asked herself all those questions as she looked around the house, each room seemed to have its own little story to tell, and the house itself had a million emotions to share.

The little boy took Ava’s hand as he guided her towards the lounge, she followed suit knowing nothing about the situation, the boy gave her a glass of water to drink and started to speak to her, his words were, “Do you know the novel called My Husbands smile? it’s one of my favourite stories.” And with a subtle voice Ava said, I’ve never really read such a story, I would love to know more about it though. And with a little chuckle the boy sat closer to her in order to gather all her attention, the more he started speaking about the story, the house started to unravel itself, the first scene which Ava found herself in was a park, it was noon and although everything looked beautiful and peaceful, she still felt out of place.

The boy then said, “there was a young woman who had beautiful blond hair, pose gestures and elegance engraved into her, she had a knack of alluring every person she came across. Although she believed that there was no person on earth who she could not obtain at will, she met a guy once, he looked aloof from his surroundings, his eyes were sad for a reason, more like he felt pain even with a smile on his face. The scene of that man looked beautiful to her, even at a long distance she staired at him, walking slowly without any care of her surroundings she stood right in front of the man, he turned his attention away from the birds he had been watching, looking at the young woman in front of him and asked what the lady was in need of with a smile on his face, the young woman got flustered in a second and asked if the man could accompany her for brunch, and surprisingly he agreed to it without a second thought.

After a few weeks had past the man and the woman married each other.

No person really understood their relationship, the lady never left her husbands side, and the husband never gave the wife a reason to leave him, everything seemed perfect to people, that was only for the first three months of their marriage. Things changed drastically after the married couple moved into a bigger house a little far from town. People started to see the couple only a few times a month, until the couple stopped coming to town all together. People didn’t really pay attention to their matter, but as more time passed the weirder it seemed.

The town foke from town finally came to the decision to check if the couple was still okay or not.

When they arrived at their house, everything seemed perfect on the outside, neat and well taken care of, until they decided to enter the house. They found two bodies on the ground; it was the bodies of the couple. The wife had embraced her husband as he bled out and it looked like she followed suit by cutting her wrist and bled to death as well.

What do you think happened to the couple Ava?” Ava sat on the couch in awe, she could not believe what she had witnessed, clenching her fingers together Ava said, “how do you know about this? My, ... my mom, I.” the boy then got of the couch, sat right in front of her on the coffee table, put his face right next to hers and said, “What do you think happened to your adoptive parents Ava? Does your brother also know what happened? Answer me, Ava.”

Ava looked at the boy in front of her in tears, internally screaming for help, not knowing what she could possibly do to avoid the situation, Ava got up of the couch and started to run towards the door, and when she managed to get out of the house, there were three people standing in front of the house hand in hand with each other. The boy got out of the house as well, looking at Ava who had to face the family she abandoned, the boy said, “remember to live happily in this house Ava, you sad it had beautiful emotions did you not? Make sure to feel all those emotions to the end.”

Wishes never really pan out the way you would hope they would, but some circumstances make us wish of a way to escape from our own troubles, a chance to breath peacefully without anything holding us back, even if we do become oblivious of the consequences of course.
