Chapter 11
He had no idea how long he remained in the dining room, but by the time he calmed down enough to switch off the light and return to his bedroom, it was nearly half past eleven. He was about to lie down when he noticed the light on his smartphone blinking.
He tapped on the screen. The message symbol appeared, along with an unknown number, which surprised him. As an orphan, he had no relatives that he knew of, and he didn’t have any close friends who would contact him at such a late hour. The number must belong to a stranger. However, he was curious enough to check the text and was taken aback when he noticed the sender.
Hey, Zeke. This is Sterling. We had forgotten to exchange numbers. Then I’d given your number to Lance without saving it myself, so I had to get it from your personal website. I hope that’s okay.
