Chapter 4 :Trouble on the horizon

*Authors note- it's getting kinda difficult to put my thoughts together into a nicely worded story but I'm gonna try my best*

-------------(Liliths Pov)-------------

As I made my way to the sturdy looking tall tree I saw earlier, I noticed how light my new body feels

once I got to the tree I started climbing carefully, although it took a little while to get used to as I've never climbed a tree this large before , after about 15 minutes of climbing I finally had a good view of my surroundings.

I pull out a pair of recon binoculars and scan the area

To the North there are beautiful ice capped mountain ranges aswell as amazing rock formations and majestic snowbanks,

To the South, the sea of tree's suddenly open up to massive Plaines and rolling hills,

To my West I see a very steep but small mountain ridge,

To my East I see more open Plaines and a few groups of animals of some kind all around the plaines,

Turning back towards the north I notice a small pillar of smoke coming from the North-East ,

I decide it might be worth taking a look at since the trees are currently obscuring the source of the smoke, I quickly put the binoculars away and start making my way down the tree, although getting up was easy ,getting down was significantly more difficult.

As I was carefully making my way further down the tree using its branches for support ,I suddenly heard a loud cracking noise, followed by the sudden feeling of floating and then suddenly sinking.

I closed my eyes, silently accepting my fate and cursed myself for doing something so dumb in the first place

*shit! is this really how I'm gonna die,you've got to be f#cking kidding me , I cursed my bad luck in my head*

...as I wait with my eyes closed I start wondering why nothing is happening, it should've been more than 30 seconds since the branch I was on broke and took me with it, I slowly open my eyes and realize I had already hit the ground..... I started to get up and wonder why I wasn't dead, then I remembered something.

I quickly opened my status ,feeling that familiar feeling of time coming to a complete halt , I open the perk menu and find what I'm looking for

*sigh* so that's why, I forgot that this even existed , the reason Lilith didn't die from that fall was due to a perk that when maxed out ,completely eliminates fall damage to the player.

...wow that's kinda broken isn't it? , well whether I think it's broken or not I certainly won't complain about the fact that it prevent my death, I looked around in the gear section a little to make sure I was ready to go , I then closed the menu and prepared to set out to that smoke I saw, taking out the g19 I placed it in my hip holster , I also took out the mp5 and slung it over my shoulder incase I need it, I took out a compass and started heading North-East to find the source of that smoke.

After walking for around 5 or 10 minutes I find a pretty well traveled path that appears to be about as wide as a small two-way road for cars, I decide to follow the path since it's also in line with the direction I'm headed towards, making my trek significantly more convenient.

After another 20 minutes of walking I had to go off the path since it stopped going the direction I was headed and branched off towards the east and west instead, after another 15 or so minutes of walking I spot the source of the smoke,

It was a small bonfire with a few people sitting around it, although they appeared to be in poor hygiene and their clothes looked like something not even a medieval peasant would wear, as I approached the 4 men one of them spotted me, he immediately alerted his friends and they all sat up and started eyeing me up and down, after a few seconds of silence I break the tension and ask " Can anyone tell me where I am and where the nearest village or town is?"

one of the men sneared at me and said " oh so you are a woman.... well then that will make this so much easier, don't be shy we won't hurt you much" while laughing creepily and signaling his buddy's to surround me.

Although I may be many things I am definitely not stupid, before any of the men had a chance to attack or charge me I drew my pistol and shot the one who seemed like their leader directly in his forehead, and although I wasn't completely sure guns would work since this is a completely different world, my doubts were instantly cleared when the man's head exploded like a watermelon, the scene of one of their friends heads bursting scared the other 3 men.

But they were overcome by other emotions and continued to try to capture the woman infront of them, one managed to grab the womans shoulder but quickly found a knife embedded in the side of his skull ,killing him.

The other two men saw this and tried to run away from the demon who killed their friends, they didn't even get a chance to hear or see who or what killed them before the emptiness took them.

-------------(Authors POV)-------------

Soon after Lilith killed the four men she looked at what she had just done, and she found it really strange that she didn't feel anything after killing the men,she surmised that she didn't feel anything because these men were probably closer to beasts then actual humans, and thus deserved no pity or remorse, after taking her knife out of the 2nd man's skull and wiping it down with a piece of cloth she found , she searched the four men's camp and found a few dozen coins of some kind , 1 of them was gold while the rest were silver and copper colored, after searching one of the tents, she found a crudely drawn map inside depicting several nearby settlements, happy that she finally found something useful, she left the camp as she didn't want to be anywhere near the 4 corpses that already stunk to high hell before rottin, before she left she doused the bonfire as she didn't want to accidentally burn down a forest by leaving a fire unattended,

she headed back to the road with the T-Intersection and chose to go east since there was a village relative close by.
