The aunt returned to the table after finishing her call with her son, her face pale and her expression not joyful, which piqued Isla's curiosity. She almost asked her about it, but her fear of the reaction held her back, especially since her aunt was not feeling well. This made Isla hesitate and choose to remain silent. After all, she was still a stranger to this family and knew nothing about her peculiar cousin. However, her heart told her that her aunt wasn't okay, and perhaps she was having problems with her son. Deep down, Isla wished she could be like a daughter to her aunt in the future and help her, sensing the same wonderful fragrance of her own mother in her.
They finished their breakfast in silence, until the sound of the doorbell broke the stillness. The aunt, looking puzzled, wondered to herself:
- "I wonder who's knocking at this hour?"
She called her maid to open the door quickly. She didn't expect Daniel to show up so early in the morning. It was clear he was eager to see Isla, and she felt the same, to the point where she couldn't hold back her excitement and rushed into his embrace. To her, he had become everything—her father, her lover, and the one with whom she would share her life.
Daniel sat down after kissing her, enjoying the morning kiss and his beloved who had filled his heart. During their conversation, he reminded her of her father's research, making sure she didn't forget his wish. The aunt welcomed him and invited him for a cup of coffee, while Isla was eager to continue her father's work. As Daniel explained the business side of things and how she would carry on her father's legacy in the company, Isla had made a promise to herself: she would fulfill his dream, a dream for which he had sacrificed so much and lived in isolation on a distant island, far from urban life and people. She would also honor her mother's dream, though she had never met her.
She waited for him to finish so she could get dressed and go with him to the new job. On their way there, she kept wondering to herself:
- "What will they ask of me?"
But she was confident in her intelligence and the skills she had learned from her father. She knew all his research well, having studied his theories and even mastered the art of diving deep into the oceans. Surely, they wouldn't leave her without utilizing her expertise, especially since her father had spent his life offering them new insights until his last breath.
