Chapter # 36

"Do you have any idea what kind of blunder you've committed?" a voice spoke, the tone was curt and hard. There was some shuffling and footsteps could be heard pacing around. "Is she dead?"

"No."

"Tell me go stupid or blind do you have to be to mistake her for the princess." the voice pauses, "she does not even fit the description you were given!"

"I apologize, my lord, but it seems the hired bandits messed this up. She was the only woman they bought with them."

"Did you tell them you were kidnapping a princess?"

"No, sir, they were asked to bring a woman in a royal carriage."

"Great."

"My lord, we apologize again."

"You better get your butt out of here before anyone sees you here." There was a knock on the wooden door, taking them by surprise. "Who is here at this time-" The door flung open, revealing the elder lord, his hands were clasped behind his back but something in his eyes made Nicholas shiver in trepidation.

"What is the meaning of this, Nicholas?"
