Chapter 3

"C-Craftmenship training Chiron?"

I said with panic in my voice. Chiron continued without caring about my reaction. " Well, if you were an ordinary kid, I would start your craftsmanship training when you are at least fifteen. But because of your unique(unique even among the demigods) physique, you can start learning now. "

Chiron's explanation didn't help to ease my worries. " But why Chiron? You said I am a successful student, so why try to teach me craftsmanship?"

Chiron was surprised at my sudden outburst and asked. " Why do you question your competence as a student when I offer you to learn craftsmanship?"

I am dumbfounded ' Isn't it obvious? '

" Because it's not a skill for an adventurer. It's a skill for those who stay at home. "

"And why is that? " Chiron asked back.

And I answered him. "Because if I become both an adventurer and blacksmith, I would need to carry around tools, fuel, and don't forget the anvil."

" And if I ever became an adventurer blacksmith, I would need a mobile base that must be big enough to carry me end my equipment and fast enough to travel the world. Like, like a ..."

" Like a ship. " Chiron said

"Yes, like a ship ..." Then realization dunked at me. " I am an idiot. "

" I wouldn't say you are an idiot. But I am glad to see you find your own answer. "Said Chiron while looking amused.

" Do you have any more questions? "

"Yes. " I answered.

"My question is, do you have any reason to teach craftsmanship beyond my dad? I will understand if Dad wants me to learn craftsmanship and would ask you to teach me. But I wonder, do you have any reason beyond this? "

Chiron looked at me and smiled. " You are right. I have another reason to teach you craftsmanship."

"In your adventures, you will encounter a lot of different things. Some of them will be friendly some of them will be deadly. And eventually, you will have to fight and kill. Be it an animal, a monster, or a human doesn't matter. And when you kill them, they will leave their belongings behind. They will be your loot. Of course, you could trade them with other humans, just like we trade our rabbits to the village nearby. There are other ways to use this loot like -"

" - use them as materials." I finished.

Chiron nodded and continued his speech.

"You don't have to make masterpieces. Even knowing how to make basic weapons or clothes with your loot (especially loot that came from monsters) would be helpful for your adventures."

Chiron is right. It would be a wonderful skill to have for my adventures even with the resentment I feel for my father's lifestyle (rarely leaving his house and spending his eternal life making wonders for a family that hates and looks down on him.) it would benefit me. But why stop there? With Chiron teaching me, I can do much more. I can create wonders both terrible and great, things that defy physics, things that charm and bind people to my will, things that shall rule all. THE ONE RI-

"Etena, Etena?!"

"EH? I am sorry Chiron. I was distracted. What were you saying?

" I was saying, do you have any questions left Etana? "

" Only one left, Chiron. "

"Oh, what is it?"

" Do you plan to teach me magic? " Chiron looks thoughtful. " Hmm, you never asked me about magic before. I thought you are more interested in the material side of the world than the immaterial.

But yes, I plan to teach you magic. Some parts of the crafts you will be learning require the usage of magic.

Working on monster materials is soo much harder than regular ones some of them require magic to process.

Well, at least for mortals. Gods are different. World bends by their will. For them this kind of magic is useless. But for you, it will be invaluable. After that, how much you will learn depends on you."

Maybe I should have asked to learn magic sooner. But I always thought Chiron eventually teach me magic.

"I understand, Chiron"

" Good, now let us enjoy the rest of dinner details can wait for tomorrow. "

We just did. We get our hearths content. And after the meal is over, Chiron goes to the cave and came back with a bottle of wine.

He offered me as well. Normally I would refuse (I was never a wine person). But my curiosity got the better of me. And I drink a little bit. And the result was-

"cough cough cough"

-worse than what I expected. Chiron looked surprised. But say nothing. Probably because of my young age and gave me our usual ale.

The rest of the night went smoothly. Both of us became a little tipsy and start to sing. We sing until our mighty flame becomes nothing more than ember and ash.

Everything was good and dandy until morning came along.
