The Flu and Party's

Nyx woke up the next morning and saw Raya was still in bed asleep. He knew she was exhausted. He carefully tried to get up. "No your warm don't leave." he heard Raya mumbled still half asleep. "You stay in bed and rest baby." When he saw she was back asleep he got up and went to the kitchen.

"Hey sis how are you doing this morning?" He went to get a cup for coffee as his mom walked in. "I'm good I slept like a baby." Nyx nods at her. "Go watch tv short stuff." Nyx ruffles her hair as she runs off. "Hows Raya?"

Nyx looked at his mom. "She will be okay. Right now she needs rest. Yesterday took a toll on her." His mom sat down next to him. "What did she do to help Selena sleep so well?" Nyx looked at his mom. "She took the memories from her. Raya said no person should have to see what was done to her. and no child should either."

Raya opened her eyes and looked at the clock on the nightstand at 10 am. She Went to get up. Her body was weak from all the power she had been using. Raya slowly walked out to the kitchen to see her family sitting on the sofa watching tv.

Nyx turned to see her leaning against the wall as her tears fell. He got up and walked over to her and lifted her chin up to look at him. "why are you crying hun?" she smiled. "Because I never believed I deserved to be happy let alone have a family again. Now that I do I will do anything to protect it." He pulled her to the sofa and sat her in his lap.

Raya rested her head against his chest when she felt someone touch her arm. Raya looked up to see Nyx's mom looking at her. "Thank you for taking the memory from her." Raya smiled. "Anything for family." Raya didn't realize her eyes softly close as she fell back asleep in Nyx's arms.

Nyx got up and carefully laid her back down on the sofa then went to get her a blanket. Once he put it on her he went to the kitchen with his mom. "I want to give her a holiday to remember when times are hard." His mom agreed with her son. "I will go to the store and pick up some stuff. Can you keep an eye on her?" his mom nods and Nyx's heads out.

Raya sat up slowly her body was fighting off the flu. Raya saw her phone was on the table in front of her and picked it up. There was a text from Nyx.

Nyx: at store moms there if you need anything. Rest baby.

Raya: Can you bring home something for the flu?

Nyx: Yeah. Stay laying down. Let me know if you need anything.

Raya: Not to throw up what I don't have in me would be nice or just some of that soup I like would work just as well.

Nyx: LMAO I will pick some up. be home soon love you

Raya: Love you too

Raya laid back down and fell right back to sleep. "Hun, can you wake up long enough to try and eat something?" She opened her eyes to see Nyx kneeling down by the sofa. "Sure" she was tired.

Nyx came back with some soup and she was already back asleep. "Hun come on you need to eat." This time she didn't wake up. "Baby." He felt her head to see she was burning up.

Raya went to turn over when she felt sick to her stomach. She got up and slowly made it to the bathroom. Once there she collapsed to the floor and started throwing up.

Nyx heard her in the bathroom and went to check on her. "Baby you okay?" she moaned out as she held her sides. "Nyx just kill me now." he couldn't help but chuckle at her. "It would most likely just give you a bad headache." He waited till she finished and picked her up caring her back to the sofa. "Can you bring me your hoodie?" He smiled and went to go get it.

When he came back to the living room, Raya was trying to sit up. "Hey lay back down. you are resting today." Nyx helped her into his hoodie then laid her back down. Once she was back asleep he and his mom started planning a holiday party.

Raya started feeling better after a few days and was starting to move around a lot more. She just got off work and walked into her apartment. "Whatever that smell is I approve," she yelled out.

Raya walked into the kitchen to see Nyx and his mom cooking. "Hey babe. How was work?" she smiled as she gave him a hug. "Cold" Nyx's mom hands her a cup. "Drink this it will warm you up." Raya smiled and drank it. "Holy shit that was good."

Raya went to get out of her uniform and was sitting on the edge of the bed when Nyx came in. "Babe you okay?" she looked up and smiled. "Yea just been on my feet all day. I really just came home to get my training gear Gladio asked me to spar with him. I know Selena is with Iris so would you and your mom like to come with?"

20 minutes later had them walking into the glaive training room. Raya heard Crowe taking bets on the outcome. As she looked around she saw even the king was here. Raya smiled when she saw Luna give her a thumbs up.

"You ready shield?" Raya had her sword in one had and kukri in the other. "Yeah let's see what you got." she smiled and stood ready.

Gladio charged her but Raya was fast and flipped over him. She tapped his shoulder lightly. "To slow," she said as she landed. "You're just toying with me." Gladio snickered. She shrugged. "Now it's my turn to attack." was all she said.

With lighting speed, Raya was in front of Gladio then behind him. She kicked his legs out from under him placing one knee into his spine one arm holding his behind his back the other arm had her kukri at his neck. Gladio released his weapon in defeat.

Raya let him go and helped him stand. " No worries shield I been doing this a lot longer. You did good though." They grabbed each other for arm in a sign of respect. She was asked if she could work with a few new glaives for a bit.

Nyx watched her as she was showing some new glaives on how to take someone down and smiled. "Hey Starlight. How about we show them a real duel?" she turned to look at him and smiled. "I was hoping you would say that."

Everyone watched as the two best glaives took their spots. No one wanted to miss this. Both the king and queen leaned forward to watch. Nyx's mom stood by Crowe and Libertus.

Raya watched Nyx as he got prepared. Nyx and her warped at the same time. Each one knew there partners movements and quickly dogged and warped once more. Raya went up and dogged a fire spell and sent an ice one back. Nyx easily dogged it.

The two landed than when they turned to face each other again. Their blades met. No one took their eyes off the fast pace duel in front of them. Nyx got behind her and pinned her to the ground but she once more flipped him over her and pinned him like she did that day on the beach so many years ago.

When he released his weapons Raya leaned down and kissed him. Nyx ran his hand up her neck pulling her down to him as he deepened the kiss. Raya placed her hands on his hip when he pulled away. The passion in both their eyes was burning bright.

"Get a room you two," Crowe yelled out making them snap out of there thoughts. Raya looked up and laughed. "Come on hero lets head home." Nyx could feel her excitement as she took his hand in hers.

Nyx's mom said she will be home later she wanted to talk to Crowe and Libertus for a while. Nyx took Raya's hand as the two walked home.

Once inside Raya took his hand in hers. "I'm starting to realize how short life can be, I might not come home one day, it could be the next time I'm sent out or it may never happen. I'm willing to lay my life on the line every day I'm out there for the King, for you. I want to start embracing the time I do still have. I don't want to worry about what Ardyn is up to. Tonight I want to only think about us."

He leaned in close, brushing his lips across her brow, planting small delicate kisses along her cheekbones and jawline, eventually making his way towards her neck. When he reached the soft spot where her ear, neck, and jaw connected, Raya felt like her knees would give out beneath her, a reaction Nyx did not miss. He hummed in appreciation as he lingered on that sensitive spot more, placing light kisses and a gentle nip.

With his hot breath in her ear, he whispered. "I love you Starlight." The two spent the night in each other's arms showing how much they loved and needed each other.

Raya woke up the next morning to see Nyx was already up. She got up and was a little sore as she walked to her bathroom and cleaned herself up. "Hey, babe." Nyx came in and kissed her neck making her knees go weak. "Get dress we have guests coming over. Remember you wanted a holiday party."

She turned to look at him. "Nyx I don't have anything to wear." He grinned at her. "Go look on the bed." She walked out into there room and saw a simple but elegant black dress. "See you out there Love." she watched him leave the room and she got dressed.

Once she was ready she went out to the kitchen to see her kitchen island had all kinds of foods on it and Crowe, Libertus, and her family were all standing around chatting.

Nyx noticed her and walked overtaking her hand. "Starlight you have been through some crazy ass shit. Some of it was because I wasn't here to help you. I'm sorry you had to suffer so much. Then to find out you did it alone. That broke my heart." She looked up at him. "Nyx I did it alone for a reason. It was to keep my promise to you. I knew where ever I was there would be danger. So for everyone's safety, I stayed away."

Nyx kissed her nose. "Tonight is for you baby. We are all here to thank you for all you have done and continue to do." Nyx wiped away the tear that fell and smiled at her. Everyone came over and hugged her as the party started.

Crowe chuckled then pulled Raya away. "Look what I found?" Raya laughed seeing Crowe had Galahad whiskey in her hands. "Okay but you better be the one to tell Nyx." Crowe laughed. "Who says he has to know right away." Raya rolled her eyes at her friend. "let's open the bottle then."

Nyx was sitting in the kitchen when he heard Crowe and Raya laughing about something. When he walked over he saw half a bottle of Galahad whiskey gone. Raya was trying to find a card from the table but kept dropping it. "Hey, babe need some help there?"

Raya turned to look at him. "She did it" she pointed to Crowe who started giggling. "Yeah because you put up such a fight." Nyx chuckled. "Have fun babe you deserve it." she smiled up at him. "OH, we need cake." Raya jumped up and tried to run to the kitchen.

Nyx saw her foot got tangled in the rug and caught her before she fell. "Thanks, hero." she kissed him as he stood her up. "Oh yeah cake." he couldn't help but laugh at her.
