A New Start

It has been said, 'time heals all wounds.' I do not agree. The wounds remain. In time, the mind, protecting its sanity, covers them with scar tissue and the pain lessens. But it is never gone.

Raya got up the next day and went to take a shower when someone was knocking on the door. She opened the door to see Nyx standing there with a bunch of boxes and a smile. "What did you do?" she asked as she moved so he could come in.

Nyx smiled at her. "Nothing we are moving to a different place. Somewhere that we can make new memories in. So help me pack up. It won't take long. We don't have much stuff."

Raya stood there for a while, not sure what was going on. "I think I need a drink." she went to the kitchen and realized she had already drank the last of the whiskey. "Babe, have you turned into an alcoholic while I been dead?"

Raya gave him a look that said fuck you. "Coffee it is then." she started making it when she felt a burning on her shoulder. "Nyx, come here."

Nyx came into the kitchen and saw her holding her shoulder. "What's wrong?" she looked up at him with pain-filled eyes. "My shoulder. It's burning." He walked over and moved her hand away. When he pushed her shirt, he saw a tattoo forming.

Raya waited for him to say something. "Nyx, what is it?" he looked at her "It's a tattoo of a symbol. I feel like I have seen it before. I can't place it, though."

The burning faded, and she tried not to think about it as she helped him pack up there stuff. "Let me get dressed, and we will head out." She said as she kissed him and went into the bathroom.

Nyx turned when he heard the bathroom door open and was in shock. "Damn, I forgot how hot you were, Starlight." That's also when he noticed her hair was different. She still wore his braids, but the color was different.

Nyx touched a strand of her hair. "It was like this when I woke up this morning," she explained to him. "It's beautiful," he said as he kissed her. "Anything else I don't know about?" he asked with a smile on his face.

Raya smiled up at him as his hands rested on her hips. "Yes, there is one more thing, but please don't flip out when you see the scars left behind," she said the last part a bit sad.

Nyx saw her turn around where her tattoo was that she had down her spine one side. It said "Our pride will" and then on the other side it said. "Shape our future."

Raya felt his hand run down the tattoo. Then she froze when he traced the scars on her back. "They are nothing to be ashamed of Starlight. They show you strength and your courage to protect the people close to you. Never be ashamed of them. Wear them with pride because you, my warrior, are stronger than anyone I know."

When she turned to look at him, she had tears in her eyes. "I love you, Nyx, and when you left, I wanted to die with you. But I promised you I would look out for our family and friends. So I did, but when the darkness came, and we went back to Lucis, I knew I couldn't stay with them. So I sent smoke with them to watch over them."

Nyx pulled her into his arms. "It's okay now. They understood why you did what you did. Starlight, they told me how you pushed everyone away once the light returned, how they could do nothing to help you as you struggled with your day today. It killed them to watch someone so full of laughter and life fade away before them."

Raya couldn't look up at him; she felt ashamed to admit she had given up. "But then they told me how you defended the city at night in your gear with my weapons. They said the few times they saw you. For just that moment, you were back with them. It gave them hope that you would be okay."

Nyx lifted her chin and looked into her eyes. "You starlight are strong fierce, and I feel sorry for any who stand in your way. But you have to start believing in yourself as well. Like we all believe that somewhere still in you is that glaive that stood tall and made others tremble in her sight."

Raya smiled at him. "As long as I have you, I know I can do anything." she kissed him with so much love and affection he never wanted to leave her side again.

They grabbed the last of there stuff and packed it in her car. "Damn, it's getting cold out here. I hate winter to much snow." Nyx laughed at her as he got in the passenger's side of the car and gave her the address to there new home.

Nyx opened the door to there new apartment and let her enter first. He had already been here this morning setting stuff up for her so she could relax.

Raya looked around. "Nyx this place is huge." She went from room to room. When she came back into the kitchen where he was. She went into his arms. "I love it hero." he kissed the top of her head and smiled. "I'm glade Starlight."

Nyx watched her closely she was still struggling with everything that has happened. "Nyx we should invite Libertus and Crowe over for dinner." He nods and tells her its fine with him.

Raya: Hey you and Lib come over to our new place for dinner and drinks.

Crowe: Sweet I miss my partner in crime

Raya: Good luck with that Nyx already thinks I have turned into an alcoholic.

Crowe: Probably because you have

Raya: Yeah I know

Crowe: No worries girl we all understand. What time?

Raya: 9 sound okay?

Crowe: see you then

Raya smiled down at her phone then looked up at Nyx. "They will be here around 9. What should we cook?" she sat down in a chair.

"I will cook tonight hun you just relax okay." he watched her nod as she curled up in the chair and watched him put stuff away. Raya felt her phone go off and looked at it.

Daemon alert in district 9

Raya jumped up and took off. "Baby where are you going?" she was in her gear and out the door before he finished his sentence. Raya heard her headset click on.

Nyx: Starlight you there?

Raya: Yeah sorry baby I'll be back soon

Nyx: It's fine just be careful

Raya: I will...SHIT

Nyx: RAYA

Raya couldn't respond seeing as there were two red giants in front of her. She looked over and saw the king's shield protecting the king and queen.

She ran over and warped in front of the shield as she felt the power in her build. "Raya careful there's something off about this." she heard Luna yell out. As she was getting ready to attack they were gone. "What the hell is going on here?" she asked out loud.

The fog was getting thicker. "Shield get them out of here." She said as she turned and blocked a blade she knew too well. "Hello, Raya." She looked up at Glauca. "How are you alive?" She stayed in front of the king and queen. "Shield get them out NOW." she yelled once more.

Nyx had put on his gear and ran out after his wife. Something was wrong and he knew whatever it was it was coming for her. Nyx saw Gladio running with the king and queen. They stopped when they saw him.

"Nyx he's back Raya is holding him back," Luna said trying to catch her breath. "Who is back?" she looked at him in fear. "Glauca" His head shot up and he took off to find his wife.

Raya was dogging him when he grabbed her by the neck. "You can't beat me, girl." His grip was getting tighter as her vision darkened around her. "Tell me Raya do you fear death?"

she warped away and looked at him as she slowly stood up. "I don't fear death. I fear doing nothing and losing everything."

Nyx came to the road to see Raya facing Glauca. When he heard what she said he was floored by the power he felt coming off her. "You can't control the chaos Drautos. Only I can. You have lived too long in the past that your blind to the future." Nyx watched her walk towards there past commander she was relaxed and calm.

Nyx saw Gladio run up behind him. "Shh stay here she's got this." He tells the shield. The two watch as The glaive so many called death came forward once more.

Raya walked towards Drautos. "Why would you do this? Why come back if you had a chance to start anew?" The man across from her started walking forward. "It matters not. Will you give your life for these people?" she smiled at him with a sad lonely smile. "My life means nothing. Giving a future to those who wish to see it. Means everything."

They both warped at the same time meeting in the middle. "You will die here in this city alone Raya." She pushed him back and looked up at him. Her eyes changed color and the wind picked up as she looked at him. She raises her sword. "You can't kill Death Drautos. I'm dead, I'm chaos and I'm sorrow. I have embraced the path I must walk. But I won't be walking it alone."

Nyx watched her. "That's some wife you got there Ulric. I see why people talk about her like they do." Nyx just nods. He watched as the shadows danced around her as she stood there. Her armor slowly started to change as the power rose up.

Raya warped in front of the man and brought her sword down. "Now you can close your eyes and rest forevermore." Drautos fell dead at her feet.

Nyx walked over to her. When she turned to look at him. He saw the women he loved had come back to him. But she was changed and he was not sure if it was for the good or not.

Raya looked up at Nyx and reached out to him when a shot rang out. Raya let out a scream as two more shots were heard. Raya looked up as a glaive came forward. "I have been waiting to see you on your knees in front of me."

She used her power to push Nyx and Gladio back and cast a shield around them. "Starlight drop this shield now." Raya saw the glaive come closer as her breathing grew labored. "The once-mighty glaive on her knees."

The glaive removed his hood and grabbed her chin. "We have some unfinished business. You and I." She looked up into the eyes of Luche.
