Chapter 8: News for Evans

Evans was reading a long procedure of LASIK surgery, he was yawning and rubbing his eyes when his colleague, Dr Ralph storms into their staff room. Evans had known Dr Ralph since he started working at Krenns Hospital, ENT department. Dr Ralph flaps few sheets of paper on Evans's face and grinning.

"Do you know what is this?" Ralph grinning. He sure that his friend would be in debt to him for the rest of his life.

"What? Your coming baby gender? Like i truly care." Evans continues reading his boring paper with eyes half open.

"Of course not you dickhead. Though i hope its not a boy. I already had two monkeys in the house. " Ralph suddenly remembered the scratch on his car.

"Its the one to one training for Relex Smile surgery with Dr Pride himself. " Evans suddenly stands up from his chair and snatch the paper from Ralph's hand. He was gasping, close and open his mouth few times.

" How did.. oh my god... where, when? " Evans have been researching on the Relex Smile surgery or small incision lenticule extraction. Only few of specialist in earth who had performed this surgery and it is still a new procedure in eye care industry.

"Be patient my friend. You still need to face many challenges." Ralph hugs his friend shoulder.

"Are you up for the challenge?" Ralph looks at his friend blank face.

" You still got problem with LASIK? That wont be good my friend." Evans back to earth after heard LASIK word.

"What, no. I just checking something. I'm going to have LASIK surgery tomorrow. Just want to refresh something. So, when they will start?" Evans's adrenaline starts to kick in. He is so excited.

" You still need to go to seminar, sit for exam, interview and so on." Ralph sits down and open a sugarless candy' wrapper. He almost puke because of the flavourless candy.

"what the fuck. Urrgghhh. Why they give us this candy. We are not dentist." Ralph takes a dustbin below the table and spits the candy into it.

Abby takes an apple from the fridge and sits on the sofa, leaned beside Evans. She changes the channel on the tv while Evans stucks on his phone reading some lengthy words. Evans shifts his body to let Abby comfortable. And put his left hand on Abby's shoulder.

"Evans.." Abby playing around with Evans's fingers.

"Emmm..."

"Let go somewhere.."

"Where.." Evans still reading the research paper through his phone.

"Anywhere. Its been awhile since we went to vacation. " Abby looks up to Evans. Evans forehead wrinkled while reading. Abby sneaks to the Evans's phone. She sighs and continue watching tv.

"What are you reading?"

"A new eye surgery. Its Relex Smile procedure." Suddenly, Evans's phone received a messages. He read it twice.

"Lets go to Quebec."

"Canada?" Abby sits up straight and look to Evans.

"Seriously.." Abby eyes gleams with excitement.

"Yeah, next month. 15 until 19." Evans put his phone down on the table and rubs his eye, tired from reading from his phone.

"Great, i will apply my leave tomorrow." Abby hugs Evans.
