"I want you to stay. Please believe me. You got me on my knees." Mason said as he knelt down in front of her.
Amber battled her lashes. She knew she wouldn't end up with another white guy.
"I hate white." She said it slowly in a way that hurt him and sauntered away.
"Amber!!" Mason's voice echoed through the class.
"I have to get out of here. I can't fall into his trap, all guys are the same." She thought and bumped into Linda, who stared at her luggage before looking at her.
"Where are you going, girl?" Linda inquired.
"I am going back home. I can't stay here any longer." Amber announced.
"Are you in such a hurry to go home? We are supposed to leave tomorrow." Linda whined.
"I can't stay here any longer. You saw what happened. I am not needed at this university." Amber stated, walking away.
"Don't walk out on me girl, if you drop out of school, you are a coward. You have to stay here and prove the racists wrong, making them change their beliefs." Linda yelled.
"Who says I am going to drop out? I can't do.." Linda cut in.
"You won't be able to discern another university that would take you in in the second semester unless you are freaking rich. That's when you can bribe your way through." Linda stated.
"I will think of something. Thanks for caring." Amber said as she walked out on her.
She hired a taxi home, thinking about what her life had become.
In the Darlington's house.
Bella was in the kitchen with Mrs. Darlington.
"Amber is going to come home tomorrow. I can't wait for the holiday trip." Bella squealed, chopping vegetables gently so she wouldn't cut herself.
"You are so excited about the holiday trip and you are going with your boyfriend, Amber will feel like the third wheel." Mrs. Darlington remarked.
"That's not true. She is coming with her boyfriend..." Bella paused and put her hand on her mouth, knowing that she had said too much.
Mrs. Darlington stopped staring at the soup and looked at her.
"Does she have a boyfriend? What does he look like?" Mrs. Darlington inquired.
"She doesn't have." Bella muttered.
"But you just said she has." Mrs. Darlington whined.
"You must have heard it wrong." Bella smiled nervously.
"If she does have a boyfriend, I will be the first to know, and as long as I know, she has a force boyfriend." Mrs. Darlington commented
"You can't call that monster her boyfriend." Amber told me she already put him in his place as soon as Dad got the property papers." Bella asserted.
"That's a good thing." Mrs. Darlington beamed when her phone started ringing in her apron pocket.
"Stir the soup for me, I have to take this." Mrs. Darlington declared and walked away.
"Miss, we are here," the driver stated. But Amber didn't hear him. She was lost in thought.
"Miss!" he exclaimed, jolting her out of her trance.
"Oh, sorry." She apologized and paid him before stepping out of the car.
