Expelled 6

"That's dessert." She declared glaring at him.

"Okay, sorry," he muttered, and sauntered away.

Amber took off her apron and arranged the table. She sat on the chair waiting for the rest of the family when her dad entered the house with a sad face and sat at the dining table.

"What happened, dad? You look pale." She muttered.

"I am on the verge of losing my job. My boss asked me to work for two months for free because I destroyed a machine at work by mistake. It wasn't my fault." Mr. Darlington lamented.

"So you are not going to contribute to the family for two months? How are we going to eat?" Amber inquired.

"I'm not sure, dear; I've begged my boss, but he won't listen." He groaned.

"It seems like everyone has their own problems." Amber said as the rest of the family joined them.

"What problems?" Daniel inquired.

"I won't be paid at work for two months because I broke a machine." Mr. Darlington groaned.

"What!! That's brutal two months." Daniel said, with his mouth hanging loosely.

"Does this mean we are going to live by my money and also Daniel's?" Mrs. Darlington stated.

"I think so." Daniel said, looking down.

"I wish I could go to your work and crush the bones of your boss." Daniel said, clenching his fists. Amber slammed her spoon on the table.

"Enough! Haven't you done more than enough?" Amber ranted, glaring at Daniel.

"What's wrong with you, Amber? Why are you being disrespectful toward your brother?" Mrs. Darlington inquired.

"He is not my brother. I regret being his sister. He has ruined my life and given me a bad name in school." Amber snapped and got up from the chair.

"What are you trying to say?" Daniel asked, irked.

"Because of him, I have been expelled from school." Amber said, pointing at him.

"Expelled!" All the family chorused.

"Yes, and it's because of him. I told him not to do anything, but he failed to listen." Amber said, raising her voice.

"Amber, calm down. He only did that for your best interest." Bella assured.

"Best interest that has ruined my life." Amber muttered.

"Calm down Amber, I understand your pain. I wasn't thinking straight when I did all that. I guess white people will always have their ways." Daniel stated.

"No, you don't understand anything." Amber snapped.

"No wonder you came home early. I always had a bad feeling about what Daniel was going to do because you said the guy was an influential person." Mrs. Darlington remarked.

"You had a feeling, but you didn't do anything to stop it." Amber snarled.

"I am sorry, Amber. I don't know what to say." Daniel apologized.

"I don't want to hear it. The damage is already done." Amber said as she stomped away to her room.

"I can't believe Amber has been expelled from school." Bella groaned.

"We haven't even started eating yet. I feel awful. My anger has gotten the best of me." Daniel said, clenching his fists.
