Chapter 60

Joy had delivered her, still rather ramshackle, notes about the house and Nina was going through them. The best idea, she thought, was to get them into some sort of chronological order. That meant starting with Fred and working up to the present day. So far all she had done was read about Fred.

The details given by Joy had been a precis of what she had discovered. There was a copy of a newspaper article about Frederick Winstanley that had grabbed Nina's attention, mainly because there was a grainy picture of the man himself. The search was now on for a clearer photo.

The newspaper records were found, but the original picture was still somewhat murky. Inputting his name on the internet brought a few more articles and reference to a book on the history of Fernborough, which showed promise. Nina had ordered a copy and the package containing it had arrived that morning.
