The journey back to the village of Woodbridge was a quiet and long one. Neither Perdita nor Marco spoke to each other.
Marco leaned on the carriage with his face looking outside the window. He watched as the carriage moved past trees and bushes along the path that was covered by thick dense forest that led to the castle. He had removed his mask when he stepped inside the carriage, and his face now fred from wearing the mask all night was replaced by a vacant look.
He couldn't tell how he felt at the moment. He knew he shouldn't be angry with Mark, his sister's once husband-to-be, but he couldn't help it. He felt the anger from what happened in the past return to him which made him almost want to punch the man in the face.
Mark and his family humiliated and treated his sister like trash and dumped her because she had no one to support or protect her.
