Synthex[2]

We followed Elle as she moved through several rooms.

"I heard you guys are Nexus guards who are still alive."

"You can say we're special because we achieved our potential before death,"

Aaron spoke as we continued to pursue her.

"Not quite. I nearly died before recuperating. It was all because of him."

I stepped in.

"Him? Who?"

Elle asked as she stared at me.

"Don't be concerned about it. I'll explain later."

I responded and looked at Aaron.

"So, basically, you died and resurrected. Is this why you may employ soul emanation?"

Aaron inquired.

"That's what I believe."

I responded to him. His eyes seemed triumphant.

"Don't get ahead of yourself. You're one in a million individuals. It was pure luck that you were capable of using soul emission before death."

I yelled to Aaron, who only chuckled.

"Hahaha, you're jealous?"

He taunted me, but Elle came to a halt in front of a massive door.

"Well, now we're going to meet my father. You can enter the academy through him. If you have any further questions, please contact me following the conversation with my father."

"I appreciate it."

We thanked her as Aaron and I entered the room. The room was enormous. We simply stood at the room's entrance, inspecting it. The room was filled with thousands of books. It appeared to be a library rather than a room.

"Allow us to enter, Father."

Elle spoke as she walked in front of us.

"Sure, please come in."

A voice could be heard throughout the room. Elle began heading towards a set of stairs. We all climbed the steps, and a man was reading a book.

"Good day, sir."

Aaron was the first to speak out.

"Hello, my name is Evan Stern, and it's a pleasure to meet you."

"Hello, sir, my name is Nova Carnegie."

"My name is Aaron Glaydus. Sir."

Sir Evan was hailed by both of us.

"Carnegie? Rowan's younger brother, I'm guessing. Aaron Glaydus, Welcome to the Stern household."

Sir Even greeted us both while placing the book he was reading on a table. He approached us, drew a chair closer to him, and sat.

"So, Elle, what's the deal with bringing them here?"

"They have been assigned to my team by Master Viktor. As you might expect, they'll be entering the academy."

Elle responded to her father.

"Well, I get it. So I'll have to enrol them at the academy?"

"Yes."

Elle responded to her father.

"Is it likely that we are in the same grade?"

I questioned him as I looked at him.

"Of course, you'll be in the same grade. This school's main premise is that it lasts three years. I anticipate you three to be the highest-scoring students in the academy."

"Sir, yes."

When we bent down, we all exclaimed in unison. Sir Evan stood up and asked Elle to accompany him. They appeared to be discussing some family business.

**

Once Elle and Sir Even finished talking, the three of us went down the stairs.

"The big question is, where do we stay?"

Aaron spoke as he gazed at Elle.

"Yeah."

I asked as well.

"I'll assign you a maid, who will escort you to your flat for the time being. After all, school begins in two days. It was lucky that you arrived before it started."

Elle replied to both of us.

"Okay, the dorm rooms you'll get will be determined by how well you do in the first evaluation."

"Can you explain what you mean by evaluation?"

I asked her.

"The school will assess your strength, intelligence, EQ, and other abilities. So prepare for it."

She replied and went out of the room. We followed her and eventually found ourselves sitting on a couch.

"But when does this school conclude so that we may practice with Viktor?"

When he peered around the room, Aaron questioned Elle. It was large and lovely. There was a lot of stuff there.

"It ends when it ends. But there is no need to be concerned because Viktor owns the school. He is free to request us at any moment."

"He owns the school?"

I responded to her comment regarding the school and Viktor.

"He does not own the school, but as the strongest, he can do whatever he wants. After all, he doesn't care what the bosses say."

She responded to my concerns.

"Viktor has bosses? I felt he was the greatest."

Aaron spoke forward, perplexed by what Elle had just said.

"Yes, the Privy Council of the Queen. They are a scumbag group of people."

"I see."

As Aaron realised what was going on, he spoke out.

"Well, you guys appear to be exhausted. So you should probably go get some rest.

I'll have my maid come here. She'll take you there and look after you for the next few days."

Elle suggested that we relax, so we both agreed and obliged.

"Are you planning on training with Viktor tomorrow? Because I, too, want to train."

As I stood up from the couch, I stated this:

"Sure, I'll notify the maid to fetch you people before training begins."

She answered our questions.

**

We walked out of Elle's flat and into the city.

"Mam,

Would you mind showing us around?

Aaron inquired of the maid who accompanied us.

"Sure, sir, but it would be preferable if we arrived at the resting location first."

Aaron's aspirations were dashed when she answered.

We followed her and soon came across a massive structure.

"Here is where you'll be staying. Mistress Elle has purchased an apartment for you. This is something you can utilise whenever you want."

As she entered the building, the maid spoke.

"Is she being nice to us?"

When we entered the lift, I remarked. We quickly made it to the 87th level. Elle seems to have purchased the private suit for us. We just walked inside the suit and glanced around.

"This is fantastic.

I haven't seen something this lovely in a long time.

Aaron exclaimed as he threw his bag to the side.

"Damn, this is our place. We own it."

I said this as I looked out the window.

"Uh, miss. We'd rather live by ourselves, so I think you can return to the Stern household. Thank you for bringing us here."

Aaron spoke to the maid as he was looking around the house.

"As you say, sir, But would you like me to take you guys around the city before I leave?"

She asked us as she stood in a corner.

"That would be too much to ask for. We can see this building from hundreds of kilometres away. So I'm pretty sure we'll be fine, mam. You can return to the Stern family."

"Ah, thank you, sir."

The maid thanked Aaron and was about to leave.

"Oh, right, before you leave. Can I get your name?"

Aaron asked the maid. I started at him from the sidelines. I let him cook and rizz her up. She was probably the same age as us.

"My name is Olive, sir."

Olive replied as she left the building.

"I see you, Aaron. Shame you had to send her out. Why don't you just ask her out?"

I recommended Aaron, as he looked at me with a piercing gaze.

"Ok, I'm joking."

I let him go and entered a room. It was huge. It had everything a person would dream he'd need in his room.

"Aaron, I picked this room."

I exclaimed as I jumped on the bed. I jumped around the bed.

"Every room is the same, you idiot."

Aaron laughed at me as he entered my room and sat on a chair.

"So, do you miss our world?"

I asked him with a frown on my face.

"Well, kind of, but this isn't that bad. But I do miss my parents and Annie."

"Yeah, I agree."

I replied as I sat up on my bed.

"Do you think Annie will come here?"

I asked him as he was staring out the window.

"Yeah, probably. But by the time she's here, I bet she's going to be stronger than us."

He said this as he got up.

We both finished our conversation, and then we decided to explore Synthex.

**

We both stepped out of the building and towards the ruckus.

"What do you believe is causing all this commotion?"

When we approached a crowd, I questioned Aaron.

"Most likely, a fight or something."

He responded in kind. Both of us squeezed through the crowd.

"What on earth is going on here?"

I asked a random person nearby.

"Everyone here is hoping to sign up to fight a guard in a 1-1 bout for money."

"Yes, I see. Thank you very much."

I thanked him and proceeded to the duel counter. Aaron trailed after me, and the two of us stood in front of the stall.

"Let's go toe-to-toe with them. Whoever loses must pay the other person's money."

When we both joined combat, I recommended it.

**

I prepared to battle this guard after Aaron parted company with me.

"Sir, you're up next. Please prepare."

The person sitting in the stall approached me and urged me to get ready. I simply nodded as I saw the man walk away.

"All right, let's get started."

From behind me, I heard a voice. It was the person I was supposed to duel with.

"Alright, I'm ready."

I responded with a broad grin on my face.

The man then moved to an open location. That was most likely the ring.

"You ready, kid?"

The man was challenged. He didn't appear ordinary in any way. He was tall and had a large scar on his face. He looked like a crazy barbarian.

"What do you think?"

I asked about him.

"Huh? What exactly do you mean?"

He responded with a perplexed expression on his face.

"I said I'm going to beat the living shit out of you."

When I drew my blade from my hand, I made my point. The scene was enveloped by a purple-white glow. I was dressed in my hakama. I took a one-slice stance and put my blade on my hip.

"All set, go."

The call was made by a man who was watching the fight.

"Raaaaaaa."

When he charged at me, the man yelled. The power of his jump carved a hole in the earth. He swung his enormous axe, which was larger than me. I used my agility to my advantage and escaped the strike. A large hole emerged in the earth when the axe contacted it. His strike rocked the earth, causing my footing to become shaky. I sprang into the air.

"Wow, he's powerful."

Before landing on my feet, I voiced my thoughts. But I wasn't too concerned. I quickly moved away from him. I took my scabbard out and stood there to let him charge at me. As I had expected, he charged at me while swinging his axe at me.

"You're done, kid."

He yelled at me before slashing at me. I blocked the strike with my katana and scabbard, but his physical might hurled me across the floor. He was damn strong.

"You're a lot stronger than I imagined. But you're going to lose now."

With an arrogant look on my face, I tormented him even more. I stood up and reattached my sheath to my hip. I reverted to my one-slice posture. I had devised a strategy this time.

Everyone was chanting and screaming while looking at the fight.

"Are you sure you have the right to threaten me, bitch?"

He asked with a sinister look on his face.

"I don't make empty threats, bitch."

With a smile on my face, I responded. He lunged at me without giving me a chance to reflect. Even before he got to me, he sliced the air with his axe. But, exactly as I had predicted, he arrived in front of me.

"Say you're praying!"

As he finally sliced at me, he shouted. Yet it was pointless. The axe passed through my body. At the same time, I terminated the fight with a one-slice assault. My blade pierced through his skin as he slumped to the ground.

"How do you avoid my attack?"

When he knelt on the ground, he asked me.

"Simple really, I just used soul emanation."

I responded to him. I used soul emanation in the same manner that Aaron had to dodge my attack. Instead of attempting to replicate what Aaron had done, I devised my method. I used soul emanation to flow throughout my body, and before the enemy's attack could get in contact with me, I focused all the soul emanation into that one spot. And also, I had another method. Bring the enemy closer to me while also finishing him. It worked, despite being a double-edged sword.

"Well, whatever. Where is my money now that I've won?"

I moved my gaze to the referee. He was still taken aback by what I had just done.

"The duel is over. Nova defeated the gigantic Rihon."

The man declared my win. He then summoned me and handed me my award money.

"Sir, here you go. One million gold glimmerings."

The man handed me a coin-filled purse.

"Thank you so much. Is there somewhere I can invest or save this money?"

I asked the gentleman. He explained the financial system and where I might invest or keep my money secure.

"OK, I'll see you later."

I thanked the man and proceeded to where Aaron was battling.

I pushed my way to the front of the crowd. It seems to be just getting started.

"This is going to be engaging. Good luck, Aaron."

I shouted as I cheered for Aaron.
