Chapter one- chaos

"Did... you see that?" a man in his forties drove on the road across the woods as he spluttered after seeing a shadow ran into the wood so fast, few inches to his moving truck.

He had a thick sleeky hair type, round face and thin lips. He has a well-built stack muscle, showing through his short sleeve round neck shirt.

He hit the break hard just at the moment and the tires screeched loudly at the pressure, he looked at his wife in the passenger's seat with a confused expression.

"What?" she asked.

It was still very bright in the day so there's no way he had seen nothing. His wife doesn't seem to understand what he was talking about.

She was staring at him waiting for his answer. He, on the other hand was in shock and too stunned to speak. She removed her seat belt because it was starting to get uncomfortable.

Her husband's expression was making her uncomfortable and restless. They were distracted by the crackling sound of the radio which suddenly started speaking without it being turned on.

".... Citizens should be careful, preferably stay in doors as there have been umpteen reports on murders around the city. Investigations have brought to our notice that these murders are not normal. I mean it has been concluded that they are not done by human beings. Just as you have to watch out for a girl if not an adult. We believe she is the culprit in this murder cases, she has been confirmed to have this super natural powers that could killed people in seconds...." The radio buzz again like it lost connection and turned off.

The man and his wife swallowed the lump in their throats, they were overwhelmed with fear. The husband, being a police officer also a detective was trying to be a man and protect his wife.

"Don't worry, I'm here. Everything will be fine." He assured her and fondled her face. A smile took over his face and he let her go.

"I will be back soon, okay?"

He got out of the truck whilst his wife discouraging him from getting out. She tried to hold on to his arms but she lost his grip.

"Let's just go it's too dangerous," she said. But he ignored and shut the door, heading towards the woods with his heart pumping fast in fear. He was 6'0" tall. He could hear the fallen dry leaves rustling under his feat as he took his steps. He quickly pulled out his gun from his holster as he got closer to the woods. He froze in his steps catching at glimpse of a shadow moving very fast in the woods, moving towards his direction.

He didn't wait to see what would happen in the next couple of seconds, he ran for his dear life as fast as he could back into the truck and zoomed off, panting.

He was sweating and shivering slightly. His wife was confused as to what was going on with him, she couldn't understand or have any idea about what he had just seen. He didn't want to frighten her.

As he wipes his sweaty forehead with his arms. The wife looked out of the window to see if she could get a glimpse of what he saw.

"What in the world is that?" she screamed. He looked at the rearview mirror and saw a figure in a black cloak running fast after their truck. He seems to be after them.

He was about 5 foot 9 inches tall. He could barely see his face since he was in hoodie. He applied some pressure on the accelerator and drove as fast as he could. He checked the mirror repeatedly and made sure he lost track of them.

As soon as he achieved this, he sighed with relief upon getting to the city full of people. He made a turn and arrived at the house in minutes. He packed outside the garage and they both got down from the truck.

The wife stopped and turned to her husband, holding onto her back. She seems to feel pains. She was feeling weak and breathing heavily like she was in her last week of pregnancy.

Well apparently, she was. Her baby pump was huge like she was pregnant with twins. She fondled her pump continuously.

"What did you see out there Charles?" she was concerned.

"It's nothing honey, it's just some cat that freaked me out." He lied. The last thing he would want her to worry about is what he had witnessed in the woods given her present condition.

His wife knew already that he was lying to protect her but she knows he definitely saw something. His phone buzz, he brought it out of his pocket to see an incoming call from his colleague. He looked at his wife.

"Go on in, I will be with you in a moment." She nodded in agreement and proceed into the house.

As soon as he confirmed that she was in, he composed himself and swiped to pick the call.

"Hey detective, we have just confirmed the location of the suspect, you must leave..." the call disconnected before the other caller could finish his sentence.

Charles found this strange. He sudden felt chills around him like someone was behind him waiting patiently for him to turn back. He quickly processes what he was trying to tell him over the phone but he seized to believe.

He was unsure.

He slowly turned to see a figure. He lost control of his breath immediately he sighted the black cloak. His gaze went up slowly to a young cute smiling face which made him scream out of fear.

The figure in front of him was an 18-year-old girl with a curly tangled hair looking like she's lost. Her whole body was covered in dirt like she had just experienced a Smokey battery reaction. Charles took few steps backwards in defence and looked at the girl closely.

"Who are you?" he asked.
