Never Die Like A Lion

After an unfortunate gamble, Miles finds himself in a familiar world but in an unknown body. It was a world he himself had created and himself destroyed. He had become an unimportant character in his novel, a character whose death was of no importance to the plot. His death meant the end of everything, and he would have to do everything to save this world or suffer the consequences.

Chapter 17 : The defenses fall away

Miles, his face covered with blood, jumped over the monster's corpse without stopping and ran towards the central area of the camp.

However, no sooner had he taken a few steps than he threw himself to the ground and rolled, dodging the sharp claws of a monster with a wolf's head and large wings flying at great speed.

The monster, however, flew only a few meters before being shot at by a unit of soldiers who were moving around carrying the wounded on the ground.

"All units! Fall back to the center of the camp!"

Miles stood up quickly and was slightly surprised by the voice that echoed in his head before remembering that it was the same voice he heard at the beginning of the battle.

He looked around at the soldiers and mercenaries fighting the monster wave at a loss and immediately realized that the camp's defense was overwhelmed.

"Should I run away from here? No, bad idea! There may be a way around the waves of demons, but if I go outside the camp's defenses, my chances of survival will be close to zero."

"Maybe I should steal an armored vehicle and run away, according to my writings they are designed to withstand the interference of mana waves but I don't know how to drive them, should I take a soldier hostage but even if I decide to do that there is little chance that it will succeed, the soldiers will stop me before I even get there and the airspace is not safe with all those demons either."

"Come on think, think!!!"

He avoided the fight and ran behind the soldiers and mercenaries heading towards the center of the camp, desperately thinking of a way to leave this hellish place.

*Boom* *Boom*

As Miles continued to run, he suddenly saw two gigantic columns of flame rise into the sky towards the coast creating an explosion so huge that the shockwave reached the camp making him cover his ears.

"Are they okay?"

Keeping his palms against his ears, he felt some anxiety as he thought about the three guys who had gotten into the fight earlier.

"Get up we don't have time to hang around!"

"Damn that explosion came from the battlefield

Some of the retreating soldiers stopped because of the explosions for a brief moment slightly panicked because of the deafening explosion, Miles who continued to run towards the retreat position while removing his palms from his ears clenched the knife he was holding even more firmly.

"Damn, this is not possible! Impossible, no, I must be dreaming..."

"Oh Holy Shit !"

"Fucking danon! Danons, fucking B rank demons, shit we're dead!!!"

"The defense line is down! The line of defense has fallen!"

*Bam* *Bam* *Bam*

Hearing this, he slowed down slightly and looked back before seeing a sight that would remain engraved in his mind for a long time in the sky some kilometers away, a thousands kinds of red lizards with huge wings, huge legs and stretched heads measuring more than 60m each.

They were flying and spitting out gigantic clouds of flames that engulfed the armored vehicles that were destroyed one after the other.

*Bam* *Bam* *Bam*

The flames quickly engulfed the defensive lines of the camp, killing hundreds of probates and mercenaries every second, whose screams reached his ears despite the distance.

At that moment the monsters that had managed to penetrate the defense lines instead caught up with them, Miles without bothering with the slightest thought used all the mana at his disposal and ran with all his strength towards the center.

"Soldiers, get into formation! The wounded, those who still have the ability to use a weapon, get ready, we're going to blockade when we hear the reinforcements!"

"Shut up! I came here for the money nothing more, guys, let's get the hell out of here!"

Rooar! Rooar! Roaar!

"Agh! Please hel...Agh!"

The mercenaries and the soldiers who were talking didn't even have time to argue when hundreds of giant cheetah-like monsters approached at full speed, attacking everything in their path.

The bodies of the soldiers and mercenaries were torn apart by the fangs of the scarlet-eyed beasts without even having time to flee.

Miles, who was running at full speed, clearly heard the roar of the monsters and did not even turn around.

He ran towards his goal without paying attention to the sound of the shooting or the screams of the soldiers and mercenaries.

"Wind ! Wind ! The wind carries me my mana is of winds! I am the wind! All my mana is winds."

Miles began to sweat profusely as his body showed signs of fatigue, he was slowly enveloped by a light current of air that slowly swirled around him, his running speed began to improve greatly with each utterance.

"An interesting child, I wonder what he's doing here?"

"Such a talent at his age, he would make a good recruit."

"For my association it's certain, yours has enough good seedlings already."

"You're right, but a new talent is always welcome."

"I didn't expect you to come, elders."

The two old men floating in the sky, one dressed in a tuxedo and the other in a Buddhist outfit, turned their gaze to the man with short blue hair who had just arrived next to them.
