chapter four

A few weeks after their first fateful meeting, the soccer team and volleyball team are closer than ever. The girls had gone to cheer them on at practice matches, and the boys did the same for them. They all sat together at lunch and hung out on weekends sometimes. Kenma and Kuroo had even gone to Aiko's house to help her study with Suzuki. She had passed her exams by... *drumroll* one point. Oops.

"Aiko! You wanna go to the mall with me and Kenma this weekend? He wants to pick up a new game, and I know he won't be focused on anything other than his game," Kuroo had popped into her classroom between periods.

"Sure! I really want bubble tea, so your paying!" she stuck her tongue out at him, and he deadpanned.

"Why do I always have to pay...~" Kuroo whined, some people in the classroom looked over at her seat next to the window [said every fanfiction ever made] and she laughed, sending the students a huge grin making them blush and look away. She chuckled at herself before returning her attention to the beheaded captain.

"Cause I'm too lazy. Also if you are paying I can get a large tea!"

"You are going to owe me one day! Do you know how much tea, cake, and pies I buy for you and Kenma?!"

"Sucks for you!" she laughed at his defeated face, and he walked her to her class.

[time skip brought to you by Kenma's apple pie]

Kuroo and Kenma waited for Aiko at the gates of the school. Kenma was playing games with headphones on. Apparently, he was in a bad mood because he had to talk to this girl for five minutes for a class project. Kuroo was just watching him play his game, a few shouts and laughs caught his attention. He glanced in the direction of the noise and saw Aiko. She was laughing with a group of students, they were all captivated by whatever weird joke she told today.

"Bye guys! I have to go!" she smiled and skipped off, they all smiled and waved at her and walked off in their own separate ways.

"What bad joke did you tell this time?" Kuroo smirked,

"HEY! They are not bad! I have a quality sense of humor!" she puffed out her cheeks in a cute pout.

"Oya? Let's here is then!" Aiko was determined to make him laugh, so she began rehearsing all of her daily jokes,

"Why did the fish blush?" Kuroo rolled his eyes, "why?"

"Because it saw the ocean's bottom!" she was laughing at her own joke, covering her mouth in an attempt to silence her laugh.

"Pfft! That's so dumb, that it's funny!"

"ITS NOT DUMB! Well actually, now that you mention it, most of my jokes are like that,"

They followed Kenma who was still recovering from his encounter with socializing.

"What do you call a pig that does karate? A pork chop!" Aiko and Bedhead dubbed over laughing.

"Alright next one," they had been doing this the entire train ride downtown, " how do you make a tissue dance? You put a little boogie in I--"

"Shut up!" their stupid joke had made the vain on Kenma's forehead pop out, he had just about enough of Kuroo's weird laugh.

They were quiet the rest of the way to the game store, awkwardly sending each other glances. Once they had arrived at the store, Kuroo and Aiko walked a little further to pick up the tea.

"Kenma is so scary!" Aiko shivered

"Yep, apparently they had to do group work in class today and he was paired with some girl who just wouldn't shut up."

Once they had arrived kuroo sweatdropped at the large bubble tea the girl had gotten.

"How can you drink so much tea and still be so small?!" The glare she sent him sent shivers down his back,

"Never question my ability to drink tea! Also, tea doesn't make you grow taller!" He ordered his tea and made sure to make a mental note, to never mention her height again!

[AN: I know I never mentioned how tall she was, you can kinda make it up for yourself but I thought she was 157cm, around 5'2. But you can imagine her as tall as you want.]

[Kenma POV, Sorry if he is a little OOC, he was hard to write]

Aiko told me that she and Kuroo had gone off to get tea, I wouldn't really care, but there was this kid I have seen around school here. I hope they come back soon, I really don't want him to talk to me.

After finding the game I wanted, I head over to the cash register.

"Will that be all?" the guy at the desk was tall, he looked friendly enough, I guess.

"...yes" It came out as more of a mumble, guys like this are annoying. They always want to talk to you.

While I was waiting on a bench outside the store, I see some older looking lady carrying some apple pie. I wonder where I can buy it...

I consider whether or not I should ask her where she got it, but my anti-social side gets the best of me. After looking up and down the hallways for a few minutes, I have concluded that I could probably get some on the other side of the mall.

From: Kenma

Kuroo, I went to find the pie.

After the message I had written to him was sent, I walked slowly around a few corners before smelling the apple pie.

[back to the third person]

"Kenma? Where did Kenma go?!" Aiko and Kuroo had just gotten back with the tea when she noticed him gone she panicked.

"We can lose him!!! What if he got kidnapped?! Or worse... WHAT IF HE IS DEAD! No, not yet! He was still so young!"

Was she overreacting? Yes. But kuroo was worried too.

"I don't think he is dead Aiko! Let me check my phone," he deadpanned, "i... might have left my phone in the classroom..."

"WHAT?! HE'S GONNA DIE!!! WHAT DO WE DO?!" The two idiots were screaming by now, which had caused several parents to pull their children away.

"Kuroo! You dummy!"

"I'm a year above you, you should give me more respect!" Aiko playfully stuck her tough out at him,

"Why should I? Your too forgetful to deserve my respect!" and on that note, she left an annoyed Kuroo behind, and skipped off to find the very lost setter.

[AN: Hello please note that I and my two brain cells wrote this at 2:00 in the morning! This one was getting kind of long, so I will publish a shorter ending to this chapter later today!]
