Chapter 26: Uprising

Purgus sat in his jail cell with his eyes fixed on the iron bars that confined him. The rough-looking Neo Spacians surrounding him taunted and tormented him making his time in captivity even more unbearable. They took his food, pushed him around and subjected him to various forms of harassment. But Purgus remained focused on one thing: his burning desire to escape and confront Howl.

His mind raced with plans and strategies, searching for any weakness in the prison's defenses. Purgus was well aware that breaking out would not be easy but he was almost readyto make his move to defy the oppressive grasp of the Celeston family.

As he observed the guards patrolling the corridors outside his cell, Purgus analyzed their patterns and routines. He noted their shifts, their weaknesses and the areas of the prison that seemed less guarded. With each passing moment, his will to fight grew stronger, fueling his ideas of escape.

Purgus knew that defeating Howl would not only bring him personal satisfaction but also serve as a rallying cry against the corrupt reign of the Celeston family. He had seen firsthand the manipulation and deceit orchestrated by Howl, the puppet master pulling the strings to maintain his power. Letting out a deep breath, Purgus knew he had to be patient and wait for the right moment to strike.

As Purgus sat brooding in his cell, his thoughts consumed by thoughts of revenge, he suddenly noticed a familiar figure approaching. It was Jim, the Monster who had tried to reason with him before, the one who had shown a level of understanding uncommon among their kind.

Jim stood before the cell, his eyes meeting Purgus'.

"Purgus, I warned you about going against the Celeston, didn't I? About the path you were going down? Well, now is the time to face the music and realize your mistakes."

Purgus narrowed his eyes, studying Jim intently.

"You really think this is all my fault? What are you even suggesting, Jim? I have no intention of backing down or playing nice with the likes of Howl and the Celestons!"

Jim sighed, his gaze sympathetic.

"I know, Purgus but heed my words. Direct confrontation against them will only lead to your destruction. If you want to confront them, you need to gather support, expose their true nature and rally others to your cause."

Purgus clenched his fists, the fire of rebellion burning brightly within him. "And how the hell do you propose I do that? I'm trapped in this cell, surrounded by those who despise me."

"There is someone who can help you, Purgus, someone who shares your hatred for the Celestons. She is here in this prison and her name is Dr. Kozaky. I believe she can be a powerful ally to you."

Purgus's mind raced, memories of Dr. Kozaky and the broken sword flooding his thoughts. He couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt, knowing that the weapon she had crafted with such skill and care had been shattered by Howl's treachery. Would Dr. Kozaky hold that against him? Would she resent him for the failure of her creation?

With a deep breath, he finally spoke, his voice tinged with uncertainty.

"Dr. Kozaky... I remember her well," Purgus admitted, his gaze drifting off for a moment as he recalled their previous encounter. " She's not just a crafter of weapons...She's a brilliant scientist and that sword was more than just a piece of metal to her. It represented her hopes and dreams, her desire to bring progress and innovation to Neospacia. I...failed her. I shattered her sword, one of the very symbols of her hard work and dedication. How can I face her after failing her like this?"

Jim sensed Purgus's unease and placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder.

"Purgus, I understand your concerns. She forged that weapon for you but I believe in Dr. Kozaky's capacity for forgiveness and understanding. You must approach her with honesty, acknowledging your mistakes and show that you haven't given up the fight. Dr. Kozaky is also a strong and resilient young woman. I believe She understands the situation and has already moved on from the matter. She should be able to overlook what you've done without getting angry."

Purgus took a deep breath, his resolve strengthening. "You're right, Jim. I have to try. If there's a chance that Dr. Kozaky can be my ally, we cannot let it slip away. "

Jim nodded approvingly. "That's the spirit, Purgus. Remember, trust is built through openness and sincerity. Show her that you are committed to bringing down the Celestons and seeking justice for the wrongs they have inflicted."

Purgus carefully unfolded a large amount of toilet paper, his eyes focused on the blank surface. He knew that this flimsy material was all he had to convey his message to Dr. Kozaky but he wanted to make it count. With Jim's pen in hand, he began to write, pouring his thoughts and intentions onto the fragile paper.

The words flowed from his pen, forming a concise yet powerful message. Purgus expressed his remorse for the fate that befell the sword, acknowledging his responsibility for its destruction. He explained how he had been branded a criminal by Howl, being made out as the bad guy for speaking out against them.

But Purgus didn't stop at apologies and explanations. He painted a vivid picture of their shared struggle, emphasizing the atrocities committed by the Celestons and the urgent need to unite against them. He called for Dr. Kozaky's aid, recognizing her expertise and the strength she possessed within her.

As he concluded the note, Purgus's hand tremble. He knew that this small piece of paper held the potential to change everything, to ignite a spark of rebellion within the confines of the prison. Folding the note carefully, he handed it to Jim.

Jim received the note with reverence, fully understanding its significance. "I will ensure this reaches Dr. Kozaky without raising suspicion," he promised

Jim left to deliver the note. Purgus couldn't help but feel a glimmer of hope, a flicker of light amidst the darkness of their confinement. It was time to wait, strategize and to prepare for the uprising that would shake the foundations of the prison and herald a new era of freedom and justice.

As Purgus waited in anticipation, his mind couldn't help but wander to the enigmatic figure of Jim. Why would a high-ranking monster like him, who was once close to Queen Xinia, be involved in the affairs of the prison and help them in their cause? There was much about Jim that remained a mystery.

The transformation of Jim from a powerful monster to a Neospacian-like being was an unknown phenomenon. It had sparked debates and speculations among the monsters but Jim kept his origins and motives hidden, much like the enigma of Queen Xinia's disappearance.

Purgus had heard whispers among the other prisoners, rumors that hinted at Jim's past connection to the royal family. Some believed that he had betrayed the Queen, while others thought he was a loyal servant who had been wronged by the Celeston family. But the truth eluded them all.

Nevertheless, Purgus couldn't deny the feeling of hope that Jim's involvement brought. If Jim was willing to help them and believed in their cause, then perhaps they could count on him as a valuable ally in their fight against the Celeston family. Now, there was only one thing left for Purgus to do.

Present day:

Purgus moved through his shadow boxing routine, his muscles tensed and his movements grew fluid. Each punch and dodge was executed with precision, his body a testament to the physical strength he had honed over the years. The sound of his fists cutting through the air unleashed small gusts of wind within the confines of his cell creating a rhythmic cadence that echoed the determination to gain the necessary strength to challenge his foes.

The guards stationed outside Purgus' cell couldn't help but notice the change taking place before their eyes. They exchanged glances, their curiosity piqued by the sudden display of strength and agility. However, their skepticism remained firmly rooted. After all, what threat could a prisoner pose within the boundaries of their captivity?

As Purgus continued his intense training regimen within the confines of his cell, his cellmates watched on in awe and fear. They had grown accustomed to seeing Purgus as someone they considered a "pipsqueak" who posed no real threat. But now, witnessing the training unfolding before their eyes, their perception of him began to shift.

The other inmates exchanged whispers with curiosity going all along the cell until One of the cellmates, a burly figure with a scarred face, approached Purgus cautiously. His voice trembled slightly as he spoke,

"Hey,Pipsqueak, what's gotten into you? You've never shown this kind of fire before. What's going on?"

Purgus paused in his shadow boxing, turning to face his fellow inmate with a steely gaze. The fire in his eyes matched the intensity of his training.

"Don't call me 'Pipsqueak'," he retorted, his voice firm and unwavering. "My name is Purgus and I'm not the same weak creature you once knew."

His cellmate raised an eyebrow, curious about Purgus' newfound resiliency. "Alright, 'Purgus,'" he said, testing out the name as if trying it on for size. "But what's gotten into you? You used to keep to yourself and now you're training like a warrior."

Purgus took a deep breath, his hands still clenched into fists. "I've been complacent for far too long," he admitted. "I let myself be defined by the perceptions of others but I've had enough of that. I won't let anyone underestimate me or my capabilities anymore."

The other inmates looked among one another. They were intrigued by this newfound strength.

"You planning on starting a fight with the guards or something?" another inmate asked cautiously.

Purgus paused for a moment, his muscles glistening with sweat as he caught his breath. He turned to face his cellmate, his eyes burning with a fierce resolve. "I've just had enough of this crap. I refuse to be confined and oppressed any longer. It's time for me to take control of my own destiny and confront those who have wronged me."

His cellmates exchanged glances. They had underestimated Purgus, dismissing him as insignificant within the harsh confines of their prison. But now, they saw a different side of him, a side that demanded respect.

One of the older inmates, a weathered man with a grizzled beard, spoke up. " Word? You've got some balls, kid. But remember, it's not just about brawn. To take on the likes of the Celestons and escape here you'll need to be cunning and strategic. Use your head as much as your fists."

Purgus nodded acknowledging the wisdom in the older man's words. "You're right. It's not just about physical strength. I need to outsmart them, expose their lies and corruption. And for that, I'll need to gather allies but it won't be good for me if I just let myself rot in here as well, that's why I'll train, Gather allies and fight back against this crooked system!"

As Purgus continued his intense training, his cellmates gathered around him, their eyes holding curiosity . They had spent years locked away, forgotten by the world and the prospect of escaping the confines of their prison ignited a glimmer of hope within them.

One of the cellmates, a Tall man with a scruffy beard, spoke up first. "Purgus, we've been rotting away in here for far too long. We're all victims of an unjust system just like you. We want out. We want justice."

Purgus looked at each of his cellmates recognizing the longing for freedom in their eyes. He knew that their past crimes, however minor, had kept them confined for far longer than they deserved. The injustice they experienced resonated deeply within him.

"I hear you," Purgus replied, his voice firm but filled with empathy. "We've all been dealt an unfair hand. Despite the bad hand, we need to fight back not only for ourselves but for all those who have been forgotten, who have been left behind by the system. Together, we can make a difference."

A fairly large inmate with a scarred face stepped forward cracking his knuckles. "We may be criminals in the eyes of society but dat don't mean we're criminals without our own principles, eh? We're ready to support you, Purgus in any way we can. We want to reclaim our lives that those bastards the Celeston family took away from us."

Purgus nodded, a sense of unity swelling within him.

The other cellmates nodded together in agreement with mirrored purpose filling their eyes. They had found reason and a common cause that united them with something they had been missing for all these years: A Lader.

In that small forgotten corner of the prison, a bond formed among these unlikely allies which was fueld by their shared desire for freedom and justice.
