Flower of the Sea - II

Amy pulled back into a doorway, suddenly shy, and observed the two of them for a moment. Then the man took Flora's arm, and they went inside a cafe.

I wonder who that is, Amy thought. I wonder what they're talking about.

She was curious, but she didn't feel it was right to disturb them, so she returned home.

About an hour later, Amy needed to run out to the store for some carrot spice. As she came out of the front door of her apartment building, she bumped right into Flora. In the collision and surprise, Flora's handbag fell to the ground. The clasp sprang open, and out fell a handful of what looked like solid gold coins.

"Oh, I'm so sorry, Flora," said Amy. "Here, let me help you." Amy bent to pick up the coins, holding one up to examine it. "These look like pirate treasure."

Flora looked slightly abashed. "I suppose I owe you an explanation for these and for running out on you last night."
