Chapter 30: Rosa's Plan
After salvaging the bodies, Orochimaru retrieved thirteen Sand Shinobi corpses from the cesspit.
"It's not easy to drown all thirteen Sand Shinobi..." Jiraiya sighed, expressing his amazement.
Despite this, Tsunade and Orochimaru remained unconvinced and continued their observation.
"Hey! Can I get some feedback here?" Jiraiya yelled in dissatisfaction, feeling left out as the third member of the team.
Tsunade and Orochimaru seemed engrossed in their analysis and paid no attention to Jiraiya's plea.
Ignoring his teammates, Jiraiya muttered to himself, feeling somewhat excluded.
"No Rosa!" Tsunade suddenly exclaimed, shaking her head.
"Indeed, it's interesting without him," Orochimaru added, his face wearing a peculiar expression.
Tsunade, being observant, immediately noticed Orochimaru's change in demeanor.
"Orochimaru, what did you find?" she asked, curious about his discovery.
"It's something intriguing," Orochimaru replied with a smile, speaking in a low voice.
"I salvaged the thirteen corpses, and I noticed that the last corpse sank one meter deeper than the others!"
Upon hearing this, Orochimaru's gaze shifted toward Tsunade and Jiraiya.
"One meter deeper? Does that mean he was heavier?" Jiraiya eagerly interjected, but Tsunade rolled her eyes in response.
"Do you think it's that simple?" she retorted.
"Of course not! This Sand Shinobi must have fallen into the cesspit before the others," Tsunade reasoned.
However, Orochimaru shook his head, disagreeing with Tsunade's explanation.
"If he fell in first, the other Sand Shinobi wouldn't be foolish enough to follow suit!" Orochimaru stated, causing both Tsunade and Jiraiya to reconsider.
They realized that it didn't make sense for others to jump into the cesspit if someone had already fallen in.
"Yeah...then why did he sink deeper than the others?" Jiraiya and Tsunade became curious, eagerly awaiting Orochimaru's explanation.
As the smartest member of the team, Orochimaru was expected to shed light on the situation. Under the gaze of his two teammates, Orochimaru posed a question.
"Haven't you noticed that there's one person missing from the cesspit?"
"Missing person?" Jiraiya scratched his head, trying to figure out who was missing.
He couldn't fathom how there could be a missing person in the cesspit.
In terms of intelligence, Tsunade was the first to realize whom Orochimaru was referring to.
"You mean... Rosa?" she asked.
"That's right!" Orochimaru confirmed.
However, Jiraiya was still not convinced.
"How is that possible? He's clearly not in the cesspit!" Jiraiya argued.
"No! It means that he escaped from the cesspit. The most direct evidence is the body of the Sand Shinobi that sank one meter deeper than the others!" Orochimaru explained, his eyes shining with wisdom.
Upon hearing this, Tsunade suddenly grasped the situation.
"I understand! Rosa and his subordinates all fell into the cesspit. But Lucsha used his subordinates as stepping stones to escape!" Tsunade exclaimed, finally organizing her thoughts and acknowledging Orochimaru's intelligence.
However...
"You're mistaken about one thing," Orochimaru interjected, refuting Tsunade's assumption.
"No? What's wrong?" Tsunade inquired.
"If it were you, and you fell into the cesspit with a dozen subordinates, would you use your subordinates as stepping stones in the first place?" Orochimaru posed the question.
"Of course not! I'm not as cold-blooded as Rosa," Tsunade responded, realizing the point Orochimaru was making.
"Exactly! Neither would Rosa! I suspect he only resorted to that strategy after sinking..." Orochimaru clarified.
Nearby, beside a stream, Rosa lay motionless, allowing the water to wash over him.
He maintained this position for a while, trying to rid himself of the stench of the cesspit.
Night gradually fell, and finally, Rosa stood up.
"I never expected this... to end up in a cesspit," he muttered, anger evident on his face as a strong desire for revenge burned within him.
Rosa had never imagined that a mere transporter from Konoha Village would be responsible for the deaths of all eighteen of his subordinates.
"I was too careless! If only I had acted sooner, this wouldn't have happened..." he regretted, realizing how he had underestimated the young man.
Rosa had dismissed the person who seemed like a useless nobody. However, the consequences were dire. Not only had all his subordinates perished, but he had nearly suffocated to death himself.
"I can't just return like this. How can I face my teacher with this humiliation?"
Looking in the direction of Konoha Village, Rosa's eyes filled with determination. He sought revenge.
Rosa wanted to capture the young man who had killed eighteen of his subordinates and inflict severe torture upon him.
"As long as I eliminate any trace of my scent, I can continue to hide. I don't believe he won't show himself!"
