Chapter 68 : The Night Before Exam

After he and Rock Lee head downstairs, both of them join his father who's already sitting at the dining table to wait for his mother to finish preparing dinner for all of them.

While sitting Kai looks at Lee who still has nervousness and unrest in his face even though he already tried to tell Lee not to think too much about it whether he was able to continue training with his father or not.

Because he was already certain that Lee was going to be received by his father and unnecessary worry might become roadblocks to Lee.

His mother who brought the food to the table also noticed Lee's weirdness, which made his mother worry and ask about Lee's condition with concern in her voice.

But Lee, who seems doesn't want to make everyone else know about the reason for his worries, tried to hide it with an excuse that everyone knew what he said was a lie.

His mother who noticed Lee was lying tried to not press further because seeing he and his father were not too concerned about it even though she already voiced her concern.

He thought his mother already guessed that it was related to the training and she doesn't need to get too involved in it.

After that four of them started eating dinner with a slightly awkward atmosphere because Lee was radiating a downcast atmosphere at the dinner table even though he tried to cheer the mood.

When all of them finished the dinner, his father rose from his seat and walked towards the door.

When his father already opened the door Lee was called to come, it was usually not the time for Rock Lee to go home yet.

It makes Rock Lee face full of worry when walking towards the door, he doesn't know what is going to happen next the conversation between his father and Lee.

He only can pray for the best outcome for him and Lee was able to successfully achieve his father's approval to continue on the training.

Not long after his father and Lee leave the house, he who is currently washing the dishes after their dinner hears the voice of his mother who is currently resting at the chair asking the full story about what happened.

"It's about training, Lee was nervous if he was worthy enough to become a father's student because he always feels he is not worthy enough compared to me."

"Even though I already told him not to worry about it and he needs to trust himself more."

Kai continues the explanation to his mother about this month's training and the source of Lee's worry and his own observation while keeps washing the dishes.

"Mother also thinks Lee already tried his best when your mother occasionally looks at your training, certainly your father is going to receive him with just how similar their personality and character was."

Well it's valid point because when his father and Lee were together their quirky nature became really strong compared to when his father was alone.

He was almost sure that if someone they didn't know looked at them from afar while they were training together, he was sure they were going to assume Lee was his father's son.

Maybe when they move closer they are going to realize that he was the son because of the resemblance in his face and his father compared to Lee who only has the same thick eyebrows.

"What about you Kai, are you already preparing for the exam?"

"I already prepared for it mother, what's left is your blessings to help me in the exams."

"Hopefully I was able to finally win this year's competition."

Kai said while walking towards where his mother was sitting after finishing his duty to wash the dishes with speed and precision.

He never knew what his system was going to give him when he was able to get the first place in all of the academy, he always got 25 Redeem Points when he got 2nd place.

With hardcore training that he did before the exam he always felt the prize was too lackluster, he assumed the real deal was when he was able to achieve first place.

He sat in the chair beside his mother and extended his hand to his mother who was already holding some kind of string bracelet with the color of yellow and black where his mother proceeded to put it on his wrist.

He doesn't know what kind of bracelet it was, his mother only told him that it can bring the wielder good luck, that is what his mother told him when the first time his mother gave him the bracelet.

Last year was the first time his mother gave this bracelet that needed to be returned everytime the exam was finished, before that his mother only gave him a standard good luck charm like everyone else in this village to their child.

"Your mother's blessings are always with you, you don't have to worry about it, the only thing that you need is to do your best in the exam."

"Either you can get what you want or not in this year's exam, at least you have already tried hard enough to achieve it."

"Yes mother, I'm going to do my best in this year's exam, hopefully I can finally be able to get first place."

After continuing talking with his mother for quite some time about some daily stuff, he started to get sleepy and start yawning when talking.

He was waiting for his father to come back and asked about his father's decision, because he was starting to get worried because of what happened at the dinner table.

"It seems your father is going to come back late, so you can go to sleep first Kai."

"You need to be in your best condition for the upcoming exam that you are going to do."

Kai heard his mother's advice obediently because he also can't help anything, what he can do is only hope for the best.
