Mock battle

Next day

A boy wearing Red jacket with a white symbol of Kurama clan on his back stood in front a man with yellow hair.

Minato laughed awkwardly as looked at the ninja headband on Rei's forehead, needless to say he was surprised as Rei found him today and showed him the headband saying he had graduated. He would have thought it was a joke if it wasn't for the headband, a sign that Rei was now a genin.

"You remember your promise right, Minato Sensei." Rei smiled as he looked at the awkwardly laughing Minato.

'Sigh! I did tell him i would teach him if he graduated, but i didn't think he would do so the next day, and people call me a prodigy.'

*cough*

Minato cleared his throat as he got his bearing back.

"Yeah I remember, I will teach you from today onwards."

He got closer to Rei as he continued to speak slowly as he smiled.

"But I am just 14 myself so why don't you call me big brother instead of Sensei since it feels quite awkward. Ok?"

He smiled as he patted Rei's head.

"Sure big bro Minato, so what will you be teaching me first."

Minato thought for a while about how and what to teach him.

"Hmm! Since i have no i idea of what you are capable of right now how about we do a mock battle to test your capabilities first."

"Sounds good, I am ready." Rei nodded at him as he jumped a few feet backwards and took a sparring stance.

"We will fight till you get a hit on me or are too tired to countinue." Minato spoke as he also jumped a few feet back and motioned for Rei to come at him.

Rei ran towards Minato as the later beckoned him with a hand.

He launched himself from the ground as soon as Minato was in his range and threw a punch at him which Minato dodged easily as he sidestepped. Rei rotated his body midair and aimed his kick at Minato's head, Minato bent down just in time as the kick passed over is head. Rei landed on the ground as he looked at Minato who jumped back a little and increased the space between them while smiling lesurely.

"Continue" Minato spoke as he beckoned Rei again.

Rei didn't wait either as he ran towards minato again.

*Swish* *swoosh* * swoosh* *thud*

Rei landed on the ground again as he looked at Minato who was still smiling, he knew the gap between their physics was huge but it was still frustrating that he couldn't land a single hit on him.

Rei breathed out as he calmed his mind and took out his kunai, he jumped up and threw the kunai at Minato who just moved a little and the kunai just passed by him embedding in ground not leaving a scratch on him.

Rei took out another kunai as he Ran towards Minato, when he was about to reach him he performed some hand signs and ten copies of Rei appeared and jumped to attack Minato.

*Clone jutsu*

A jutsu which created illusions of the person performing it, for an experienced shinobi it was easy to figure out if they were clones or the real guy given some time, and knowing this fact Rei chose to perform it at the perfect timing not giving the opponent time to analyse which one was real.

'What a good timing.'

Minato complimented in his heart as the clones covered his field of vision, but even this perfectly synchronised attack didn't phase Minato a bit as he easily dodged their attacks while hitting them on the back of their head making the clones disappear one by one.

*swoosh* *poof* *swoosh* *poof*

As the last remaining remaining Rei attacked him Minato tilted his head and striked down the real Rei on the back of his head.

*poof*

'Huh! A clone?'

A surprised expression came over Minato's face as what he thought was the real Rei turned out to be a clone.

Rei appeared behind Minato as he attacked him with his kunai, while Minato looked at the kunai fallen on the ground.

*substitution jutsu*

'He substituted with the kunai earlier?'

"Got you." Rei smiled as his attack almost reached Minato.

*swoosh*

But before the attack could connect Minato disappeared right in front of Rei's eyes, a look of surprise appeared on Rei's face as he sensed someone behind him.

*Body flicker jutsu*

A jutsu that focused one's chakra on their feet making the user so fast that they seem to disappear in front of naked eyes.

"Ha that was a good one Rei." Minato attacked Rei as he appeared behind him.

The attack connected on Rei's body as he fell to the ground.

*poof*

When the body reached the ground it disappeared in puff of smoke as a wooden log fell in its place.

*substitution jutsu*

'Ha, amazing he didn't lose his focus even though the tables had suddenly turned on him, can't believe he is really just a kid?'

Minato smiled as he looked at Rei who appeared a few feet away from him.

Rei looked at Minato who stood lesurily not making a move, he looked the same as he did before the fight had begin while Rei breathed heavily as his stamina depleted after continuesly using jutsu one by one.

'This guy, he is good.'

Rei stood there for a while but slowly he fell down on his back tired and depleted of stamina.

'Ha i didn't even get a hit in.'

Needless to say Rei was a bit disappointed that he couldn't hit Minato a single time but he didn't get disheartened.

'If there is a gap between our abilities it can always be shortened. But could i have hit him if I removed the weights.'

Rei thought back to the time of his last attack, although he could have become a bit more faster he didn't think the hit would connect anyway. He shook his head as he remembered Minato's monstrous speed and laughed wryly.

'Ha its a total defeat.'
