"Aren't you planning to come out yet?"
This one sentence brought Shikamaru and the others, who were still in shock, back to their senses.
Emerging from the bushes, their expressions didn't look very good.
Sasuke's astonishing performance earlier made their actions seem like those of deserters.
Lee's face flushed red. He wanted to say something to Sasuke but couldn't seem to find the words.
He could only stare wide-eyed at Sasuke.
"Senju…"
It was Shikamaru who finally broke the silence, looking very seriously at Sasuke.
"Can you tell me, just how strong are you?"
Hearing this, Sasuke smiled faintly.
"Dealing with this group of ninjas is very easy!"
Alright, that answer was as good as not saying anything at all!
"What if it's their leader? Are you confident you can take them down?"
"Ah! Yes!"
Sasuke's reply seemed so casual, his attitude not serious at all.
It was hard to believe!
But Shikamaru clenched his fists slightly.
"Alright! Since you're confident you can take down their leader, I'd like to hear your plan. You didn't agree with mine earlier, so what do you propose to do?"
Faced with this question, Sasuke didn't even need to think.
He spoke directly.
"Find the target, charge in, leave no one alive!"
A simple and straightforward statement.
It made Shikamaru and the others twitch at the corners of their mouths.
Is that even considered a plan?
However, there were those who supported it. Lee strongly approved of Sasuke's plan.
"Are you serious?"
Shikamaru couldn't help but ask.
Sasuke nodded. "These ninjas are so weak; what's there to be afraid of?"
Weak?
Shikamaru helplessly pursed his lips. Looking at the group earlier, their momentum had been quite strong, and their movements were not slow at all. If it were up to them to handle, it would likely turn into a battle of attrition.
Yet Sasuke still thought such enemies were weak?
Fine!
This guy was indeed much stronger than them, so there was no room for argument.
Compared to Sasuke, these people might as well have been made of paper.
Raising his head to glance at Sasuke, Shikamaru seemed to be deep in thought.
Meanwhile, Kiba and the others were beginning to feel dissatisfied with Sasuke's remarks.
"You're indeed strong, but do you know how many people are in a ninja unit?"
"Even if they're from a small nation, there are at least a hundred of them."
Kiba wanted Sasuke to understand that, strong as he was, he couldn't completely dismiss these people.
However, Sasuke shrugged. "So what? A few hundred… is that a lot?"
Huh!!!
Kiba was stunned. Did this guy even know what he was saying?
A few hundred!
Not just a few people!
Did he even understand what a few hundred people meant?
This kid must be insane! Even with some strength, does he really not see these small-nation ninjas as people?
Shino, with a blank expression, looked at Kiba and said, "It's pointless, Kiba. Senju has already decided to kill them all. So, the number… doesn't matter anymore."
What do you mean it doesn't matter? Is that even the point?
Kiba was speechless.
Meanwhile, Shikamaru, who had been silently observing Sasuke, seemed to have figured something out.
"Alright! I'll let you act according to your own will this time. But if… things go south, then Senju, you must follow my orders!"
"Retreat!"
Unexpectedly, Shikamaru turned out to have some backbone. If it had been someone else, they would never have agreed to such a reckless plan.
However, Shikamaru didn't outright reject it.
Sasuke smiled. "Alright! Fine!"
As he spoke, Sasuke glanced into the distance. "Let's go! Stop wasting time here. The sooner we kill all of them, the sooner we can return to Konoha. Who knows, we might even make it back in time for the big battle on the frontlines!"
Shikamaru, just about to take action, almost stumbled and fell.
'This guy… he's still thinking about rushing back to join the main battlefield?'
The enemy hadn't even been encountered yet, and in this guy's eyes, they were already considered dead?
"Senju, regardless of how you plan to act, we still need to notify the frontline troops."
Behind Konoha, at the frontlines, there was also a fifty-man ninja unit from Konoha stationed.
Their task was to block these small-nation ninja units!
Though only fifty strong, they were considered an elite group.
The initial objective wasn't annihilation, but interception, so the dispatched unit was limited to fifty.
"Understood."
The rear frontline of Konoha was about a day's journey from the village.
But Shikamaru and the others rushed frantically.
To arrive as quickly as possible, they departed Konoha in the morning and reached their destination by evening.
The frontline ninja unit's camp.
This camp was strategically located, guarding a critical junction.
If the enemy ninja units wanted to penetrate deeper into the Land of Fire, they would inevitably be spotted, no matter which route they took.
Any movement would be immediately relayed to Konoha.
At this moment, the captain of the Konoha unit stationed at the frontlines a middle-aged jōnin was looking at the group of kids before him.
His expression and mood were far from pleasant.
He had already received word that Konoha had dispatched an assassination unit to eliminate the leaders of these small-nation ninja units.
At first, he had been thrilled, knowing that successfully killing one or two leaders would greatly ease his burden.
But upon seeing Shikamaru and his group, he exploded.
"You've got to be kidding me!"
"Lord Hokage… sent this group of kids to support us?"
"A bunch of genin, trying to assassinate enemy leaders?"
"I'd say you're here to die!"
The middle-aged jōnin captain was furious. "If Lord Hokage really couldn't send anyone, he didn't need to send a bunch of kids to fool me!"
"With me here, these people won't take another step forward!"
Shikamaru looked at the furious captain, initially intending to greet him and inquire about intelligence on the enemy ninja units.
But now didn't seem like the right time to talk.
"Perhaps Lord Hokage thinks that for some small-nation ninja units, Konoha's genin are more than enough to handle them."
Suddenly, Sasuke spoke unexpectedly.
The enraged middle-aged jōnin captain turned his head, glaring at Sasuke with fury.
"What did you just say, kid?"
"I said, for dealing with them, Konoha's genin are enough."
The captain's face darkened as he slowly approached Sasuke, exuding an oppressive aura.
It seemed like he intended to teach Sasuke a lesson.
Standing before Sasuke, the captain relied on his height advantage to look down at him.
"Kid, are you saying we're not as good as you genin?"
Sasuke grinned.
"That's right… you're not. You can't even handle a bunch of nobodies. Compared to us genin, you're nothing."
'What…'
The surrounding Konoha ninjas were stunned. The weakest among them were chūnin, and there were even two jōnin vice-captains.
Yet this genin looked down on them?
The jōnin captain was silent for a few seconds, then burst out laughing.
"Hahaha… a genin who looks down on jōnin!"
"You've made me very upset…"
Suddenly, the captain's fist came rushing straight at Sasuke's face!
Shikamaru: 'This is bad…'
