Chapter 11:A Dragon!?

Team 7 arrived at Kiju Village, a small but bustling settlement nestled amidst the snowy terrain of the Land of Iron. As they approached, they noticed other Genin teams converging from different directions. It was clear now—the Oni River, infamous for its icy and treacherous terrain, must indeed be where the second riddle scroll vault was located.

Yuto raised his hand, signaling for Naruko and Hitomi to stop. "Hold on," he said, forming a series of hand signs.

Naruko and Hitomi watched in surprise as a puff of smoke erupted before them. Out of it emerged a large dragonfly, its shimmering wings reflecting the faint sunlight. It let out a soft buzz, hovering patiently as Yuto turned to the girls.

"Hop on," he instructed, his tone neutral.

Naruko blinked in shock. "Wait, what? When did you get a summoning contract, Yuto? And a dragonfly?!" she exclaimed, her voice tinged with curiosity and awe.

Hitomi's Sharingan activated momentarily, scanning the summoned creature. "A dragonfly summon? That's rare," she muttered, more to herself than anyone else.

Yuto's expression didn't change as he adjusted his equipment. "I've used the summoning jutsu multiple times," he said matter-of-factly. "I tried different contracts until I found some useful summons. This one is particularly suited for reconnaissance and quick travel along with Wind Jutsu."

Naruko opened her mouth to ask another question, but Yuto cut her off, his voice taking on a sharper edge. "Naruko, Hitomi, focus on the exam. Be like ninjas."

The girls stiffened at his tone, and Naruko's expression faltered. She wasn't used to this colder side of Yuto.

"Stop wasting time on questions that don't matter," Yuto continued, his eyes narrowing slightly. "Instead, use that time to think about what traps might be waiting for us at Oni River. It won't be as simple as walking in and grabbing the riddle scroll."

The weight of his words hung in the air, and for a moment, the girls remained silent. Hitomi nodded first, her expression unreadable as she stepped onto the dragonfly. Naruko followed, a pang of guilt evident in her features as she climbed on as well.

'I get it... He's mad because of how we treated him,' Naruko thought, biting her lip. 'But why does it feel worse than when he just ignored us? This cold attitude... It's like we don't even know him anymore.'

As the dragonfly ascended into the sky, Yuto remained at the front, scanning the horizon. His mind was already racing with strategies.

'If multiple teams are heading there, it's not just about finding the scroll. We'll need to look out for traps, scout the area, and possibly deal with ambushes, and I am 90 Percent sure that there is something guarding the vault. Because traps wouldn't be the only things they will place to put the Genin's away from the vault.' he thought.

Behind him, Naruko glanced at Hitomi, who was unusually quiet. Hitomi met her gaze briefly before looking away. Both girls were feeling the same pang of regret but didn't know how to bridge the gap Yuto had placed between them.

The dragonfly carried them swiftly toward their destination, the icy expanse of the Oni River glimmering in the distance.

As Team 7 arrived at the frozen Oni River, the icy expanse gleamed ominously under the dim sunlight. From their vantage point above, Yuto activated his Kamigan, his eyes glowing crimson as he used its heat vision ability. Scanning the landscape, his expression hardened when he spotted something beneath the ice.

"We've got a problem," Yuto said flatly, commanding the dragonfly to descend to the river's shore. As they landed, he dismounted and turned to the girls. "The vault is in the middle of the river, under the ice. But it's not unguarded."

Naruko furrowed her brow. "Guarded by what?"

"Something really big," Yuto said, his gaze shifting back to the river. "It's a summoning animal. And from what I can see, there are traps all over the ice. This won't be as straightforward as we thought."

Hitomi crossed her arms, her Sharingan activated as she scanned the area. "So, what's the plan?"

Yuto didn't hesitate. "I'll deal with the summon. You two focus on getting the scroll. Once the summon is out of the way, I'll handle the traps."

Naruko opened her mouth to protest but closed it when she saw the cold look in Yuto's eyes. She felt a pang of guilt, realizing how distant he had become.

Without waiting for a response, Yuto slammed his palms onto the icy surface. A wave of solar chakra radiated from his hands, heating the ice and causing it to crack and melt. The air around them grew warmer as steam hissed from the surface. Suddenly, a deafening roar echoed through the area, and the ice erupted as a massive figure emerged from beneath.

The trio stood frozen as a colossal eastern white dragon rose from the shattered ice, its scales glistening like snow and frost with blue eyes that could make anyone pee themselves. The dragon let out another roar, sending a wave of icy wind toward them.

Yuto narrowed his eyes and pointed his fingers in a gun-like position. A small ball of solar energy formed at his fingertips before he flicked his hand forward. The energy shot out like a bullet, creating a gaping hole in the icy wave. The trio stood unharmed as the wave passed around them.

Naruko's eyes widened. "That's… a dragon?!"

Hitomi's Sharingan analyzed the beast. "This wasn't in the plan…"

Yuto, however, smirked slightly, a greedy glint flashing in his eyes. 'A dragon summon… Who wouldn't want that?' he thought. 'It's mine now.'

He turned to the girls. "The traps should be mostly disabled from the solar wave earlier. Go get the scroll. I'll handle this."

Naruko hesitated. "But Yuto—"

"No arguments," Yuto cut her off, his voice steely. "Stay on task. I'll meet you back on the shore once this is done."

The girls exchanged worried glances but nodded reluctantly before darting toward the vault.

Meanwhile, the dragon roared again, gathering chakra in its mouth before unleashing a powerful ice stream. The icy blast froze everything in its path, but Yuto countered with a concentrated solar beam, the two forces colliding in an explosion of steam and heat.

'Ice Release?' Yuto thought, his smirk widening. 'Where did the Land of Iron get their hands on something like this?'

The dragon, enraged, unleashed another roar. Unknown to Yuto, the dragon wasn't owned by the Land of Iron—it was a wild creature revered and worshipped by the samurai. For years, they had appeased it with offerings to avoid its wrath. Its presence during the exam was purely coincidental, but now it was furious at having its slumber disturbed.

The dragon's instincts kicked in as it released a stream of fire, but Yuto absorbed the flames effortlessly with his Chakra Absorption ability. "You shouldn't have done that," he said with a wicked grin. "Now I want you even more."

As the battle raged on, other teams began to arrive at various points around the river. They were stunned by the sight of Yuto battling the massive dragon.

Kankuro gulped. "Are these exams really supposed to be this insane? Fighting a dragon for the starting part of the exam?!"

"This is beyond nuts," Temari muttered, gripping her fan tightly.

Gaara, however, watched with a cruel smile, his sand coiling protectively around him. "Interesting…"

Haku stood silently, her hands clenched into fists. Watching Yuto effortlessly counter the dragon's ice techniques made her stomach churn. 'His strength… It's on a completely different level now,' she thought, ignoring her cowering teammates.

Kurotsuchi shielded herself from the heatwaves generated by the clash. 'So, this is the Yamanaka boy Grandfather warned me about… He wasn't exaggerating,' she thought, her expression serious.

Toka, on the other hand, grinned as she watched Yuto make the hilt of a sword out of nowhere. A blade of orange energy extended from the hilt, resembling a lightsaber. "He's got some interesting tricks," she muttered, her fingers brushing the hilt of her own sword. "I'll make sure to fight him one day."

Yuto, wielding his solar energy blade he made by using his crafting eye ability, launched himself into the air, propelling himself with bursts of solar chakra. The dragon roared, taking to the sky to engage him in combat.

Naruko's voice called out from the shore. "Yuto! We've got the scroll!"

Yuto glanced back momentarily. "Good. Stay there. This is going to get messy."

With a determined look, Yuto faced off against the dragon, his blade glowing fiercely. Around him, the other Genin teams watched in awe, fear, and admiration. The clash between the man and the beast had only just begun.
