An Eye for An Eye!

{4 days later}

Ryuu has been waiting, it's been three days... He still had quite a lot of chakra pills and energy bars so he waited. 

Ryuu has been a Jonin for 4 years and a Jonin sensei for 2, Kurou was a member of his first team. Although they had been together for just 2 years the bonds the team has fostered had allowed them to grow beyond their capabilities. 

He knew that they were not very talented but he was pretty sure that given some more time, he could push them over to the ranks of chunin. That's why he included them in this war, war merits were an important part of the promotion criteria.

'He died before he could even see an enemy...' Ryuu sighed as he thought back to the day, his current actions were impulsive he knew that, but after Kurou's death he had seen red. That's why he was waiting for the route that the Konoha shinobi took.

'If there's one thing you can count on young shinobi to do, it is to make mistakes.' Ryuu thought as he waited.

Time slowly moved for him as he had to wait, keeping his senses peeled in the direction of Konoha's base camp to notice any flicker of movement. The constant rain makes it harder to see and he could barely see 100m in front before everything became just a haze of rain.

'Dammit, I thought he would become overconfident and come back. According to Chiyo, he was just around 10 years old...' Ryuu's thoughts paused as instinct took over, it was the years of fighting that allowed him to dodge the attack but the kunai still broke through his shoulder blade.

"Ahh!!" Ryuu screamed as he jumped back, his assailant followed his movements and jumped to the same tree. He didn't get a moment of respite and in desperation, he looked up to see who was attacking him, the last thing he saw was the blood-red eyes with a shuriken-shaped pupil staring at him.

{5 minutes ago}

Hikaru was on his way back to infiltrate the Land of Rain, this time he had a different mission, he needed to see the response of the Land of Rain when confronted. Orochimaru was worried about what they would do when the war began to affect their operation.

The Land of Rain wasn't as famous as Hikaru expected it to be, though its leader was still ranked as an S-Rank threat by the Bingo books. There was only one fight on his record and that was against Mifune, the future leader of the Land of Iron...' Hikaru thought, he was going through the plan in his mind when he sensed someone with Jonin-level chakra up ahead.

'Sharingan'

His Sensing allowed him to sense the Jonin hidden in the trees and only after he opened the Sharingan was he able to see him clearly.

A red name shone above his head as Hikaru thought about the pros and cons of launching a sneak attack. Although his status did label him as a high-Jonin/ Low-Kage level, Hikaru knew that was because of his broken Mangekyo abilities.

'I haven't ever tried them as well, although I have several strategies on how to use them a chance to gain some actual combat experience was invaluable...' Hikaru thought as he slowly circled behind him. He was extra careful as his Sharingan automatically found the soft areas on the ground. 

One advantage of the constant rain was that he didn't have to worry about dry leaves making noise when he walked over them. He was easily able to reposition himself to behind Ryuu as he got ready.

'Let's go with Plan A and if he survives then I'll use Plan B...' Hikaru thought as he carefully scanned his surroundings one last time.

'Mangekyo Sharingan' 

Hikaru increased the amount of chakra flowing to his eyes, in a moment the world slowed down even more as Hikaru could see each individual drop of rain clearly if he focused on it.

'Tokotachi'

Hikaru didn't waste time as each moment of his Mangekyo Sharingan was precious, he sent a bunch of chakra into his left eye and activated Tokotachi. The world became simpler all of a sudden and with a simple thought Hikaru was standing right behind Ryuu.

Hikaru was ready for a teleport but this seemed a little too easy so he was a little unprepared to swing his kunai. This gave Ryuu a chance to escape but he wasn't able to cleanly dodge the kunai as well. He was also unprepared to be jumped by someone expected, Hikaru could feel his kunai rip through Ryuu's shoulder.

"Ahh!!" 

Hikaru could see Ryuu's facial muscles twitch even before he let out the scream. In the same way, he was able to follow his movements to see which tree he would jump to. At the end of the day, Ryuu was still a little faster than Hikaru even though he dumped the 16 points he got into his DEX his speed was a little slower.

'I need to use the... Genjutus: Sharingan.' Hikaru was ready to use 'Tokotachi' again to appear behind Ryuu but he looked into Hikaru's eyes for a moment too long.

Hikaru easily was able to sever his consciousness causing him to go into deep sleep. Ryuu's form crumpled mid-air as he collided with the tree. That would have normally allowed him to wake up from the genjutsu but Hikaru slammed his kunai through Ryuu's left temple mangling his brain.

As a barrage of notifications came at Hikaru he closed the Mangekyo Sharingan and started actively scanning his surroundings. This whole thing could be a trap waiting to be sprung so Hikaru was ready to dip at a moment's notice.

'No one's around, at least not within 300m and anyone further would not have heard much. He just screamed and then he made the mistake of looking into my eyes...'

After a few seconds more seconds of active sensing, Hikaru turned to look at the notifications as he gripped his kunai hard.
