Chapter 92 : "You're the one called Kato Dan?"

Among the younger members of the Kato clan, Kato Dan is regarded as the strongest. He is well-known and considered a true genius in his clan.

"Kato Dan, the clan leader wants to see you in the living room."

At this moment, Kato Dan was awake. He had just taken a bath to relieve some of the fatigue from his training.

"Okay, just a moment."

After straightening his clothes, Kato Dan spoke to his mother, Kato Megumi, and then followed the ninja who had come to get him to the reception room.

On the way, Kato Dan asked curiously, "Rui, did the clan leader say who wants to see me?"

The ninja, named Kato Rui, replied, "The clan leader didn't say, but besides him, the Hokage is also in the reception room."

"So, the Hokage wants to see me?"

Kato Dan frowned slightly. He didn't understand why the Hokage would want to see him, as he was just a low-ranking Chunin with little interaction with the Hokage.

With these questions in mind, Kato Dan quickly arrived at the reception room, where he met the Kato clan leader and the second Hokage, Senju Tobirama.

"Greetings to you, Hokage-sama and clan leader."

"Don't be so formal; sit down, and let's talk."

"Thank you, Hokage-sama."

Once seated, Kato Dan immediately asked, "Is there something specific the clan leader and Hokage-sama wanted to see me about?"

Kato Toru didn't respond but glanced at Senju Tobirama, indicating that it was the Hokage who wanted to see Dan, not him.

"I have something to ask you. I want to see the scroll of the Spirit Transformation Technique. Do you agree?" 

The distinction between personal secret techniques and clan secret techniques is significant.

After realizing that the Spirit Transformation Technique wasn't a Kato clan secret, Tobirama became more decisive and immediately asked to see the scroll.

This surprised and embarrassed Kato Dan.

He was surprised because he had only recently mastered this Spirit Transformation Technique, which was a technique he created himself.

The difficulty of this was understandable.

No one wants to reveal a secret technique they worked hard to develop to others.

Even if that person is the Hokage, it wouldn't matter.

Fortunately, Kato Dan wasn't stubborn.

He recognized that he couldn't compete with the Hokage's authority.

He slowly nodded and said, "I'll get the scroll right away."

"I won't look at your scroll for free. Tomorrow, come to the Hokage's office and choose a jutsu from the Scroll of Seals to learn. Consider it an exchange."

The Scroll of Seals is a forbidden technique scroll created by Tobirama Senju when he first became Hokage.

It contains ninjutsu that can cause great harm or even death to the user, also known as forbidden techniques.

Kato Dan knew about this forbidden technique scroll and was aware that it held powerful techniques but also had significant side effects.

But side effects don't scare him, as long as the power is strong enough.

The life of a ninja is inherently dangerous.

No one knows if they will survive their next mission.

So, they will grasp at anything that can make them stronger.

Kato Dan was no different.

In his eyes, trading the Spirit Transformation Technique for a forbidden technique from the Scroll of Seals was a huge advantage.

Exchanging knowledge between someone who knows and someone who doesn't can result in a greater overall gain.

Just as Kato Dan happily headed home to retrieve the scroll, Kato Toru suddenly spoke to Tobirama.

"Hokage-sama, can the Nightspring Technique exchange for a secret technique from the Scroll of Seals?" 

"I'm afraid that won't work."

Senju Tobirama was at a loss for words.

Other people's secret techniques either boost their combat effectiveness, like the Akimichi clan's Multi-Size Technique, or assist teammates in battle, such as the Yamanaka clan's mind-transfer technique. The Kato clan's secret techniques, however, were just a joke.

Can this useless technique enhance my own strength? 

Can it help my teammates in a fight? 

Can it control the enemy and change the situation? 

No, definitely not.

If it were the fifth Hokage, Jiraiya, maybe Kato Toru would have a chance. But for Tobirama Senju, there's no way he would trade the forbidden techniques in the Scroll of Seals for some lousy Nightspring Technique.

"Okay, I was overthinking it."

Feeling lost, Kato Toru sighed and sat down heavily in a chair.

Tobirama ignored him.

Becoming the head of a clan is not easy for anyone. Even if Kato Toru looked lonely, Tobirama was sure he was just pretending.

He was likely trying to win the Hokage's sympathy to get his request approved. He wouldn't give up easily, since it costs nothing to try. What if it actually worked? Unfortunately, Tobirama's resolve was strong, and this little act wouldn't fool him.

"Hokage-sama, clan leader, I'm back."

Soon, Kato Dan returned to the reception room with a scroll. When he saw Kato Toru, he asked in confusion, "Clan head, what are you doing?"

Kato Toru waved his hand and replied, "Nothing just a little uncomfortable, it's fine, don't worry about me."

Kato Dan: ???

Uncomfortable?

Glancing at Kato Toru, who was still pretending, Tobirama added, "Just ignore him; treat it like he's having his period."

Kato Dan looked at the clan leader, his eyes wide in shock.

"Yes, men feel uncomfortable for a few days each month. You wouldn't know because you're not married yet."

Kato Toru didn't argue with Tobirama. Instead, he patted Kato Dan's shoulder and continued seriously, "Once you're married, you have to be careful; otherwise, it's not just discomfort—you'll have back pain too."

Even though they had never been married, Kato Toru had kidney issues related to her menstruation.

"Dan, follow the instructions carefully."

Without wasting any time, Dan handed the scroll to Tobirama after he finished speaking.

Tobirama didn't hesitate; he picked up the scroll and left.

He wanted to go home and examine it slowly.

"Don't forget to come to my office tomorrow."

"Hokage-sama, take care. I won't forget."

Early the next morning, Kato Dan eagerly made his way to the Hokage's office.

If nothing unexpected happened, something unexpected would.

As he was nearing the Hokage's office, two masked figures suddenly jumped out from a nearby alley.

One had black hair, and the other had white hair.

Kato Dan recognized them immediately.

The guy with black hair had a personality that stood out.

With fair skin and snake-like eyes, wasn't this Orochimaru, the Jonin and disciple of Sarutobi Hiruzen?

Now that he knew Orochimaru's identity, it was easy to guess who the white-haired one was.

Who else could it be but Jiraiya?

Just as Kato Dan confirmed their identities, the young Jiraiya across from him looked up, pointed, and asked in an arrogant tone, 

"Are you the one called Kato Dan?"
