Chapter 30: Opinion

Keon succeeded in cheering up Nath for a bit and they immediately head back to their rooms to rest. Their bodies were still exhausted after all and they badly need a rest

It was already late in the afternoon when Keon woke up. Since he was still feeling lazy to go get some food, he just took out his watch and accessed the information that their Supervisor sent to them

The thing that piqued Keon's interest was the arrangements in buying monster corpses, energy cores, and other resources

Level 1 materials can be sold in the range of 200 to 600 credits. Level 2 has a higher price of 1,500 - 4,000 credits. As for Level 3 materials, they have an even higher price of 10,000 to 20,000 credits

Of course, that is just the market price and if Keon will sell the materials he gained, he might only gain around 70-90% of the market price since the markets also need to gain profit

For Keon that never had any money before just the thought of having more than 10,000 credits was already a bit far-fetched. But he knew that although Hunters are always facing life and death, they also have a lot of money

A level 3 Mystic can easily save a lot of money without risking too much if they only hunt Level 1 or 2 monsters. However, these Level 3 Mystics need to hand in two Level 3 energy cores in exchange for the government teleporting them to the many realms out there

It's not like they have the ability to reach those realms by themselves. The only thing they can rely on was the teleportation points

For Hunters, they only need to give two energy cores at their level but to non-hunters, the fees were much higher. Thus, if a Level 3 mystic wants to earn money, doing that by hunting monsters with two levels lower than them is almost not profitable

Who knows how many days and dangers it would take to fill these cores using energies from Level 1 creatures? Not to mention, most realms have Level 3 creatures in them. That is like the minimum. There were almost no realms that only have Level 2 or 1 creatures

Even if a level 3 mystic can easily kill level 1 creatures, their own energy still have limits and it will take hours to replenish that

Keon also read the thing about the glory points that Dante said to them earlier. There are only a few ways to earn glory points. Some of it was to sell resources in any form to the government

Every 10,000 transaction will earn a person 1 glory point. There is also the missions that the government can give out like exploring and gauging the level of a certain realm and other kinds of missions

Glory points are extremely important and only Hunters have the easiest time gaining them. Members of the Police, Military, Research, and other Departments have a harder time earning glory points since they don't really explore realms and bring back resources

"Heh ... the government is really pushing us to fight strong monsters" Keon whispered to himself

The government of today is far different than the government of the previous era that Keon had read from history books. Before, humans really don't have that much difference in individual power. There is also no threat from monsters

Because of that, the people are the ones giving power to the government. The masses gave their consent to be ruled and they can vote whoever they want

Too bad that things are different now. The disparity in strength in humans has grown too much. The people are not the ones giving the government the power anymore

The government itself has power and they are protecting the weak citizens from the monsters. This time, it can be said that the people are the ones indebted to the government

The powerful government officials can still survive on their own since they have personal strength. But normal people don't have the same luxury. If they are abandoned, they would die gruesome deaths

"Do you think that the government is hateful?"

A voice suddenly interrupted Keon's thoughts and when he looks at the source, he saw Gabe looking at him. But this time, Gabe was showing a submissive attitude. He is really treating Keon as his Master

"If I say yes wouldn't that cause me trouble?" Keon asked with a chuckled

Gabe shook his head at that. "Master, I am your servant. I will never put you in trouble. I just want to know your honest opinion about the government since it will um ... affect our future"

Keon can't help but raise his brows. Why does he felt like the secret Gabe and the others are hiding is far deeper than he had thought?

Unfortunately, Gabe really won't say anything if he said that he can't say it

"Looking at the things from the strong's side, having arrogance and treating the people they are protecting a bit bad is not that evil since, without them, these weak people will die. However, looking at it from the weak side which I am in currently, how can I don't think that they are hateful? Even when I was a kid, I already know that they are exploiting us orphans "

"We were fed, clothed, and sheltered by the government not because they cared about us but because that can force us to become Hunters. The government always tried to promote the Hunter Department but how could that be easy?"

"How many people are willing to constantly risk their lives? Even those that came from powerful families and born with strength higher than their peers might give up after having a taste of what a real Hunter's life is"

"Even if the government tried to ban anyone from leaving the Hunter Department or if they try to force people into entering it, they still can't. The powerful families and government officials also have their own families. How can they let their families be sent to death? "

"Thus, the only way is to force the weak orphans without any backing into the Hunter Department. We don't have families that will care for us. Just how many people will get angry on our behalf?"

The bitterness in Keon's voice can be clearly felt. Those things are facts that he had already learned from a young age. He doesn't have much experience yet but he always prided himself when it comes to his intelligence

That is why even when he was still a kid, he always tried to show a kind version of himself so that people will like him. The more people that like him, the better his life would be

"Then ... does Master want to destroy the government?" Gabe asked as if it was the most natural thing to do

Keon was once again given a huge shock. Gabe was the first one that asked him about his opinions about the government and he can't help but push out the pent-up emotions inside him. Aside from that, since Gabe is not saying all the things that Keon wants to learn, he decided to say his honest thoughts to gather some information

However, Keon was really shocked by Gabe's response. Destroy the government? Keon was dissatisfied with the government but he never dared think of destroying it

The government is composed of powerful mystics whether they came from powerful organizations, families, or none of the above. Not to mention, the Hombre Realm's government is even headed by none other than the great Hombre Family itself!

The power they hold was so immense that no Mystic even had the thought of destroying them

"Why are you asking me this question?" Keon asked in doubt. Isn't this question too arrogant?

"Forget what I said, Master. I got us some food from the cafeteria since Nath is still asleep and he ... he is constantly having some nightmares"

From the four, it was always Nath that wake up early and most of the time, he will take food from the cafeteria and eat them with his roommates

This time, Nath is actually still asleep and he is even having nightmares. The death of the other trainees might have really affected him a lot

Keon felt sad for his friend but this thing needs time. Nath can't just easily recover from this. He was such a sunny boy that treats everyone around him with importance. The people that died were people that he interacted with for three whole months

Keon let out a long sigh and went down from his bed to eat. Since the food already came for him, might as well eat. In the past days, he only eats nutrient pills since it was convenient to take in the wild. He now misses real food

When Keon turned to look at Nath, he saw the man's trembling body and he can only shake his head

"Why didn't you try waking him up from the nightmare?"

"Master, we wake him up several times before but he will only smile at us and continue sleeping but by then, his nightmare will return"
