LSR
~~
Why would Rune come to talk to him yet did the opposite?
She was relating with Kate so well that it angered him.
What angered him the most was the fact that he was provoked by her and her suspicious family yet, he did look forward to speaking with her.
Why should he want to desperately speak with someone he was so mad at?
Arghh– insanity was knocking on his door!
When he heard yet another knock on the door, impulsively, he decided she must have realized her mistake and had come back to right her wrongs.
"I think she likes me" He heard Duncan beam beside him.
His gaze suddenly fixated on the TV screen in the sheer pretense of not giving a damn about Rune which in actuality, he wished she could just come over and engage him in the longest of conversations.
"Who?" he struggled to ask Duncan while his mind was with whatever Rune came back for.
Duncan's reply caused him to turn his neck. "Who else? Rune of course!"
He held his laugh low but the sound got out still. He was actually thinking Duncan wanted to say, Kate but even Kate wouldn't consider giving Duncan a chance if there were no eligible boys left.
But it was Rune?!
The beautiful girl with a long straight white hair which twirls and dances every time she flips it?
Duncan must be ridiculous to say that. When was Duncan ever not ridiculous?
"Dream on brother" he scoffed.
Kate's voice rang from the door after she had gone to get it.
"I will be out for a while LSR!" her tiny voice filled his ears.
Out for a while?
With Rune?
Was Rune here to only make friends with her fellow girl and had no use for him since he was a boy?
Out of annoyance, he had snapped at Kate who in return fired back at him like always.
He had to sigh, "Girls!" he muttered under his breath.
Duncan heard nonetheless. "Yes, aren't they wonderful and beautiful? I mean, look at Rune. She is so beautiful, so nice, and so into me!" he squeaked.
Squeaking was what girls would do, not boys.
LSR did not want to ruin his friend's mood so, he said the next thing that came to mind apart from highlighting Duncan of how he was the one who was forcing conversations on Rune and - Rune on the other hand was probably keeping her irritation at bay just to be nice.
Okay, maybe Rune was a nice girl. But her family wasn't. And— they had some dirty secrets. Secrets he would find out when it was time.
The fact that there was Old Mrs. John who came to their door which he saw quite well and the camera which came out of nowhere had another thing to display did not quite fool him.
He saw them.
He saw Rune's sister who unlike Rune was a corrupted girl with questionable actions.
Maybe there was a kind of cat food that lures cats or some chemical she had gone to splatter on Old Mrs. John's window just to horrify the old woman.
He had kept it to himself because he thought the old woman deserved it. In the past, she made life hard for him once before. He had been plotting, a way to get back at her, and Rune's family did the job for him so, he might as well be quiet and let it slide.
"Girls LSR, are beautiful creatures when they are in love—" Duncan was blabbing on.
That's it- he could not handle Duncan's rant anymore.
He didn't want to be a killjoy but he might as well wear the crown of king of killjoys if Duncan wouldn't let his ears rest.
"When I said girls earlier, I meant Kate. Maybe it's Kate who likes you and not Rune" he said with a devilish smile hiding at the corner of his mouth.
That was enough to make Duncan shut up his nonsense about Rune. "Hell no! Kate cannot be considered a girl but a boy" Duncan was nodding vigorously.
"Just play the damn game!" LSR shook his head in irritation.
And thus, they continued to play the video game in silence until fat mouth came back.
"I hate the next-door neighbors!" Kate bellowed as she threw the door shut vigorously behind her.
Instantly, LSR and Duncan turned to her.
"Why?!" Duncan blurted out.
Even LSR had his ears strained out. He wanted to know.
Kate threw her hands up. "They did the most silliest thing to me!" she raged.
Why was Kate this provoked?
"What did they do to you?" LSR raised a brow.
Kate's both hands went to her waist. "I had no idea they were bloggers. They pranked me with one of those internet pranks and started saying some weird things after. They are bloody creeps!" she marched to the kitchen and sipped a cup of water.
"Ah- that helps my throat. I have raised my voice to its highest pitch oblivious it was but a prank they were trying to pull on me!" she continued to nag.
That's it!
He knew the next-door neighbors were creeps! Such a waste of Rune's beauty to be in that kind of family. Her identical twin sister, a waste of her beauty too!
However, Rune's twin was a goon while Rune was a calm and cool-headed girl.
"Tell me, Kate. Why do you call them creeps?"
Kate was about to open her mouth to talk when she suddenly changed her mind. "And why should I answer to you? Why are you asking me so many questions after your so-called friend made me kiss heaven?" she hissed and stormed away into Zakariah's room.
It amazed LSR still that Zakariah had allowed Kate to use his room.
"You see why I said Kate was a boy?" Duncan said beside him and he couldn't help but agree with his friend.
"Yes, man. You are definitely right"
As soon as they turned to return to playing the video game, Kate's voice resounded from inside.
She was already coming to join them in the sitting room.
"Time for your rehabilitation exercises LSR" she chimed.
That would be the first one since his accident. From what he learned, it would be a very uncomfortable experience for him too.
"But there are no crutches. Or did you get one already?" Duncan chirped in.
Kate was the most calculated and probably smartest teen LSR knew.
"I ordered one since the morning. The delivery time is due" she provided.
Although she was the most annoying being on earth, Kate could be useful still.
Very useful.
Ding-dong!
The bell chimed.
"I'll get it!" Kate rushed enthusiastically to the door and stepped out.
Was it Rune again? LSR gulped.
He dragged Duncan's collar. " Quick, check who it is!"
Feeling like an international spy, Duncan lounged toward the window and parted the curtains and blinds.
Swiftly, he turned back to LSR. "It is the delivery man" he whispered.
LSR was disappointed.
He shouldn't be, but he was.
.
Kate walked back in through the door with a carton containing the new crutches.
"It's here!" she vibrated, lifting the carton high for them to see as if they would not see it still if she didn't lift it like that.
After setting the pieces of aluminum, LSR was ready to start his first rehabilitation exercise and he was nervous too.
Very nervous.
Duncan and Kate had their hands on him to support him up but strangely, he wasn't in pain as he usually was before when he tried to move.
His two hands were on their shoulders. One on Kate's and the other on Duncan's shoulder.
He was too focused and determined to do well on his first time –for he had promised to prove wrong the doctors and everybody who said walking would be difficult for him to attain when Duncan's whisper came.
"Why are your feet on the floor?"
His or Kate's feet?
He glanced down and then, understood what Duncan meant.
His legs were hurt so, he shouldn't be standing with ease on the ground right now.
Not crooked or bent or shaking from lack of composure, his legs were firm on the floor as though he wasn't the LSR that Vidal man had called crippled.
