Chapter 16: Is it all my fault?

I woke up earlier this morning, the sun wasn't shining in the sky, yet I could see its colors. The clouds formed a wave in the sky, and the mountains had this emerald color. My feet's touched the cozy rug underneath my bed as I rose to my feet. I was wearing a shirt and pants. I walked toward the big chair that was near the window. My favorite book, placed on it, and my red big jacket. I wore my jacket and realized that my eyes were puffed and swollen since I was crying from yesterday. I opened the door and walked outside. The windows were clean and sparkling. The red rug, soft. I stood in front of one of the windows and stared outside. I could feel how nature cried and screamed, how the demons were walking in the streets, and the angels were flying in the sky. Black shadows, lurking around. I reached my hand on the glass, as soon as I touched it, it shattered into a million tiny pieces, dropping like raindrops on the floor. I quickly stood back, scared that my feet might get injured by the glass, but, it disappeared as soon as it reached the floor, leaving smoke in its place. I walked again, scared to touch anything. I reached the main door and heard a familiar voice. I turned back and saw that Lucas was standing there, looking at me. I stood, unable to move, he came to me, but I took a step backward.

"Why did you back off? are you still scared?" he asked, looking at me confused.

"I, I'm not, I'm just scared to hurt you," I said, trying to move away from him

"Why, did something happen?" He asked.

"I.." I said, but he cut me off

"I know that you shattered a glass, don't worry about it" he continued "I know it's hard, that's why I bought you the thing," he said, showing me a pair of black silk gloves.

"This was perfectly designed for my mom, she went through the same thing as you, it helped her a lot, don't worry about anything anymore princess," he continued. I grabbed the gloves, hesitant, then wore them. They fit perfectly and were warm. I tried to touch a vase, which didn't break anymore.

"Thank you," I said, smiling at him. "Is it all because of me?" I continued. He grabbed my hand and told me that I wasn't responsible for anything. This is the fate of many vampires in this world. We have to survive to keep living, but that doesn't mean that it had to be like that.
