After deciding to venture out, I realized that aside from the newly made spear, there was nothing else to prepare. But still wanting to have something extra, I took another knife, covering it with some clothes and hiding it under my t-shirt.
Thinking this should be enough for now, I left my apartment. After hesitating between the elevator and stairs, I opted for the stairs. There couldn't be any accidents here, after all. Walking a little and seeing three zombies near the stairs, I still came down slowly.
After killing the past two zombies and raising my level, I was now stronger. Not to mention, I have a better weapon now. With the advantage of being in a higher position, there was nothing that could go wrong.
I approached slowly. Even then, there were still footsteps sounds, and as soon as they heard them, they started to run at me. But thanks to them being a little spread out from each other, I didn't have to worry about all of them coming at the same time. And even though they were running toward me, they were actually slow compared to normal humans.
Taking my awkward stance again, I struck my spear at the first approaching zombie. Even though I couldn't finish him with the first strike, the powerful shock from stabbing made him roll down the stairs, taking another zombie with him. Seeing that it was my chance to have a one-on-one battle with the remaining zombie, I tried to concentrate a little more as I swung my spear down. Hitting him in the neck and feeling the reverberating bounce of the strike, I put all my strength in, trying to cleave my way through his neck.
"Slash." With the sound of my spear cutting through his neck came the messages from the system.

But without having time to read through the messages, I suddenly felt some experience of wielding the spear being put into my mind. Holding the spear tightly and trying not to get too distracted, I read the system messages. Exhilarated that I finally got my first skill, I wanted to continue my hunt.
Seeing the headless corpse of the zombie still oozing blood and its head rolling, I was reminded of my changed reality. But not caring much, I descended to the approaching zombie. With the momentum of my running down and swinging the spear with the help of my newly learned skill, I swung my spear again, hitting and impaling it in his chest. I jumped down and put all my weight into the strike. Hitting the floor with the zombie under my feet, he was done for.

Supporting myself with the spear as I stood, I wanted to check the results of my battle. But hearing some noises, I looked at my surroundings. Seeing that there were zombies coming from more than one direction, my first decision was to run. But after noticing their numbers were not a lot, I changed my mind.
With the narrow hallway, it couldn't be too difficult. Turning my attention to the group of two zombies, I started running toward them. Not being able to swing my spear sideways, I just did it vertically. Trying to connect my strikes, I struck again at the same one.

Seeing the zombie was killed and feeling my improvement, I was happy. But trying not to let things get to my head, I started my battle with the other one.

I couldn't finish the battle this time with just two strikes, but seeing my level still rising, I was satisfied. Noticing how the other group of zombies were nearing me and with my newly raised vigor, I was going to head to my third battle and finish it quickly. But suddenly hearing the sound of a door opening next to me got my attention, so I turned my head toward the sound to see blonde hair dangling through the slightly opened door.
Seeing me turn my head to give her attention, she opened the door more, enough to pass her head through and let me see her round face, long blonde hair, and green eyes. Getting a glimpse of her petite figure was enough for me to judge her as beautiful.
Surprised by her appearance and the timing of it, I spaced out a little.
"Pardon, but can you hel—"
"Close the door quickly." Coming back to my senses, I interrupted her with my raised voice. But maybe because I wasn't fast enough, and with the noise she made, one of the three zombies who were now close to me went her way.
"Kyaaaa!" Hearing her scream as she tried to close the door, I was in a dilemma. She can't close the door even in front of a weak zombie? Like, what the heck? You could have talked from the other side anyway, so why did you open the door if you can't close it? Seeing her like this, I started to question myself.
Should I force my way out of these two zombies, even if there's a possibility that I would injure myself? Or should I just play it safe and kill the two zombies in front of me first? Had I not spaced out a little when she opened the door and warned her immediately, the situation wouldn't have come to this actually.
So should I use my unassigned points and raise some of my attributes? Is the situation now important enough? Will I not regret it later?
