CHAPTER 4: SILENT WAR

The classroom is noisy from the questions that is kept in the mind of the students who saw the scene earlier.

Xia is found reading a book as if nothing has ever happened. She care less about the stories so she finds no reason to explain anything. "To think that your mood will turn a 180°, just a minute ago you're smiling as if evrything you see is beautiful then at present here you go stuck with your book" Ann complained after her dream of she and Xia who has a wonderful mood would shatter before her eyes once Xander left.

"Did you really think that I'd be smiling in public?" Sarcastic Xia once again returned. Ann is apparently sulking right now. All of it was just an act for Xander not to worry about her. "Don't be depressed. I've always been like this, surely you've already been used to it" Still indifferent Xia continued on reading.

*Easy for you to say since your dream wasn't crushed in front of you* Ann tried to accept the fact that it was all just an act. Shaking her head, she brought out her book and move on.

During class, Xia couldn't help but sense that someone is looking at her. She looked around to see if there was someone but failed. "Sighed" she brushed it off and listened to the lesson. Little did she know, Vincent kept sneaking looks at her and averts his gaze once Xia tries to look for him.

After school, Xia is already near the gate waiting for her chauffeur. "Do you want to ride with me instead" Vincent suddenly came up beside her. "No, my brother is actually going to pick me up today so. I can't" Xia refused the offer without hesitations. The same car which Xander used to earlier stopped in front of Xia and Vincent. "Well, I guess I'll see you tomorrow" Xia looked back at him and nodded but didn't say anything. She quickly hopped into the car and left.

"Sir we should go" Vincent sighed and left the university. In the car, Vincent leaned against the window with his eyes closed. "Sir, you seemed to be under the weather. Anything wrong?" Vincent's chauffeur looked at him through the rear-view mirror. Seeing his master to be in such mood after schoolis something concerning. "Nothing.... just school works, that's all" Vincent replied with a low voice. He then remembered Xia's smile when she entered the university, he was so captivated by her beauty but then turning grim when Xia looked at the guy beside her, that moment he turned around bearing a cold aura. When these thoughts popped up in his mind, he can't help but clench his fists tightly. The chauffeur saw this along with the coldness in his eyes. His master must have been pissed off earlier.

"Xander, I won't lose to you in this battle"

Arriving at the mansion, Xia is already sleeping soundly. Seeing her little sister in a deep sleep like a little kitten, he shaked his head while laughing quietly. He picked her up and went to tuck Xia in her bedroom.

Suddenly, Xander's phone rang. Afraid that Xia might wake up he strode out of the room and closed the door. "What is it?" with a cold tone Xander answered the call. "Yes, don't worry. The two of us will come to the meeting anyway" Xander hung up the phone and peeked once more into Xia. He caressed her hair then bent down to kiss Xia on her forehead. He left Xia and changed his clothes first before going out.

A man dressed in all black entered the club. Looking around Xander found someone familiar near the counter. Approaching him with his cold face, the other one just gave him a smile "Xander!? I never thought you'd return!" The guy greeted Xander, he didn't speak but still has his cold face. "For some reason, you just won't stop pursuing her don't you?" The man gave a sinister smile "I've always been pursuing her. The only thing is, I couldn't get close because of you" Xander remained calm even after these words "I don't get it, you're so controlling. Do you ever think about how she hates you inside?" the man continued on his insults. Xander can't keep himself but laugh, the man looked at him, curious about what he said that made him laugh. Xander gradually stopped laughing and gave him a smile.

"Believe it or not but Xia didn't resist it at all" Xander said. The man raised his eyebrow with what he just heard "I've controlled Xia for so long but you didn't find any resistance, so how could you tell that she hates me. She is even enjoying it" Xander turned to leave but looked back at him who already has his fists clenched "Vincent, do me a favor and do not stir up trouble okay?" Xander grinned and left the club.

SLAM!! Vincent hit the counter furiously but he knew he is in public and tried to fix his composure and left the club afterwards.

Early in the morning, the siblings arw already on their way to the company building. Xander looked at Xia who is shaking with her hands locked up tightly together. "Nervous?" Xia looked at him and smiled "No, I'm just excited" Xander smirked "We'll see how they will react once they found out that they don't have any place left in the company" The both of them are sinister, truly not the people you should mess with.

"This should be satisfying, seeing their faces. Things are gonna be interesting" The siblings chuckled, devilish grins are on their faces. Something is brewing up indeed.

Arriving at the company building, Xia looked carefully at the building from top to bottom. "Let's go" Xander and Xia entered the building side by side. Every staff working halted as the two siblings walked pass them.

"Who are those people?" A newbie asked her senior. "You're new so you don't know anything about the siblings. Rumors has it that they're inseparable" gossips started to rise in the staff but was stopped by the director. "All right, stop these nonsense if you don't want to get fired!" Everyone immediately returned to their desks and pretend nothing has ever happened.

The door of the meeting room sprung open. Entering the room were the siblings with their heads held high.

Mr. Vanderwood remained with his indifferent look, seeing the siblings barging in the company didn't even bother him. "Sir, is this legal?" a board member asked. Mr. Vanderwood didn't answer but just observed the show.

Everyone was astounded by the siblings attendance to the meeting. They weren't ready to what they have up their sleeves. The whole room is silent, no one dared make a sound.

"Why hasn't the meeting started yet? Are we waiting for someone?" Everyone looked at Xia, *this girl, does she not see that Mr. fin isn't here yet?* *one of the biggest shareholder still has yet to come, is she blind?* The board members looked with disdain, they regarded her as an arrogant person. Spoiled brat, a shame to the family name. "Every shareholder is here, why not start?" Xia suggested, A man stood up from his chair and argued "Miss, Mr. fin isn't here yet. He owns one of the biggest shares in the company, you can't just left him out" an impolite tone is what Xia got for an answer.

Xia smirked, "We'll see about that"

Ten minutes has passed from the time that the meeting should start, the board is clearly getting impatient. "If we waste more time waiting, we won't be able to discuss anything" Xia knew that some of the board is already siding up with her this moment. "Miss Xia is right! if we wait for Mr. Fin, I'm afraid that we won't have any progress regarding the projects that is to be discussed today" "I believe so too" One by one the board members agreed with Xia's argument until the majority decided to start off with the meeting.

The meeting went smoothly therefore finished earlier than expected. "Mr. Vanderwood, your kids are marvellous in this line of business. I believe your company will be more prosperous than today" A board member deeply respected the siblings after their performance today "The company is in good hands" the others applauded as well.

Suddenly, the door opened and came a man who still holds a straight face. Mr. Fin, how dare he show up. This is outrageous. the room fell into deep silence. All focusing their gazes into the man.

"Can't you be more shameless to show up way past the designated time" Xia sneered.

"This is not your matter little girl. I didn't missed anything anyway" Mr. Fin spoke, the people in the room just stared at him. "Umm... Mr. Fin, I believe you're too late. We've already finished the meeting" Hearing this the man flew into a rage. "I hold one of the biggest share in the company, how dare you start the meeting without me!" Mr. Fin furiously hit the table with his fist "Mr. Fin, we have all the rights to start the meeting" "How dare you!!"

Just as Mr. Fin about to slap the young assistant a figure stood in front of her and took the blow.
