ONE LAST CHANCE

That whole day and night, Alin didn't come out of her room. Even as Benzyl was especting to see her as happy like the other passed days, this time even a glimpse of her perfume, he didn't smell. He has not seen her for two days now ever since he spotted her with the other maids. Just then inside his mind, he knew something was off even before asking for her wherebouts from other maids. Alin's mind had thought that maybe by doing that, Mrs Leigh's anger will reduce but neither did she know she was lighting her own fire. Suddenly, a strange knock came from her door and she immediately sprang out of the bed with trembling fingers.

' Who's that? She asked holding the knob.'

' Open this door or l break it Alien.' she heard the thundering voice and she knew that for sure that must be Benzyl. Ever since she arrived from this mansion. He has been calling her Alien even after a hundred corrections she had done.'

' Uhh… Sir! What do you want....

' I said open woman or you don't want to see me getting angry,' he warned his palms banging the door. Alin dropped her shoulders disappointedly and opened the door though fear eating her.

' Was that your blood l saw few days ago Anna wiping on the stairs, huh? That was the first question he asked.

' Blood! Which blood are you talking about? She asked hiding her fingers but forgetting that her toes got hurt too.

' Don't act dumb Alien. Was that your blood? His piercing gaze send a shiver inside Alin's body. She tried to open her mouth to speak but no words could be formed.

' I get it? Did she do that? He asked again this time his gaze falling on her toe. ' Oohh! Shit! Did you got yourself treated? He asked bending down. She quickly moved backwards only to find herself falling on the bed.

' I...l.... No one did it, l swear.'

' You're lying Alien. Say it right into my face and stop hiding your wounds. Have already seen it and you know Anna, she has already told me everything.'

' Whaat! Anna?

' Hmm! Leigh did this, right?

' It wasn't intentional. The glass slipped from my hands then.....

' Stop lying. Say it right into my face and stop hiding the truth, if you don't want me to drag you down there and call Leigh, then speak the truth.' he threatened squarting besides her. His gaze fixed on her eyes and the the situation made it hard for her to speak.

' Fine, you don't have to speak. Have already got the truth. Now let me see how the wound is, maybe you didn't treat it well.' he muttered slowly taking her legs in his hands but she dragged it away.

' No. No Boss. Nanny Ella had already treated it. And again, it isn't that deep so by tomorrow I'll be fine. So, if you excuse me, l need to have a rest.' she quickly said though seeing a certain kind of pain in his eyes. This is what she has to do just to stay away from him and to avoid more problems with that woman. It's for the best. ' Also this might be our last chance us having a close conversation. And l mean it Boss. You'll always earn my respect as my boss and l hope I'll get the same from you.' she added swallowing the dumb lump from her throat.

' One last chance? What do you mean? Did l do something wrong? He confusingly asked.

' No you didn't and l know you'll never. But am trying to do what is right. We should both kill what is going on between us and start again. I can't loose this job because of what l could have prevented.'

' Loose the job? Am the one who brought you here for fuck sake? Who is threatening you Alien? Is she the one doing these to you? Are they my brothers? Huh! Tell me, who is that? He shouted angrily throwing hands on his dry hair unbelievable.

' No one Boss. Is just me who.....

' Wait, and what is it that is going on between us? Is there anything that l should know? He questioned moving closer to her than before. ' Tell me, what is it that it is between us that we should kill it? His question only made her to freeze. She couldn't thought that he'll get the words. What was her mind thinking? Is there anything good between them for real? How can she be that stupid?' She thought biting her lip shamelessly. She tried to cook up another lie but this time nothing hoped onto her head. Before she could come up with something better he spoke again bringing her mind from berating.

' Boss! Huh! Again, when did you started calling me by that name? Have l never told you my name?' he asked with a chuckle staring at her.' Did she tell you not to speak to me, huh? To tell me all this shits your blubbering to me, that if you do so, you'll loose your job, mmh? He added silently standing this time his face turning serious. Though there was pain in his eyes while saying the words, all she had to do was to look away, to stop her falling tears.

' No. This is best for us. I came here because of one thing and not to cause problems between two people. I don't want to be the victim who ruined your relationship.' she said falling on the bed covering her body.

' Huh! Is this what you've decided and gave it a thought? Anyway, if that's what you've thought and it's right for you then l won't intervene. But just know it might be okay with you but not to someone who cares about you, never.' he said storming out of the door angriy. He didn't even bother to glance backwards even for once leaving behind his soul taking perfume.'

' I know you won't accept it, but l guess it's for the best. I have no other choice.' she whispered her eyes closing a strong relieve escaping from her chest.
