The church bells from the ducal castle started to ring, and the guards manning the walls of the desert duchy of Quidra were changing shifts. One soldier stood on top, yawning as he waited for his replacement to come. He then rubbed his eyes even if he shouldn't be closing his eyes at all. Then again… who would attack their duchy when the sun was about to rise?
A heavy pat came to his shoulder. The replacement had arrived without him noticing, and the other person even caught him off-guard. "Are you out of your mind?!"
"Is something the matter? I have stood guard for another long night of watching the sand slither in the wind. There's nothing to be scared of." The outgoing watch soldier complained as he rubbed his shoulder. However, the frown on the other person let up.
