Chapter 19 : My Damsel

I could feel her eyes on me the entire time as I drove us back into town. She had a million and one questions, I was sure of it.
In my defense, I had not thought it all the way through. I had just heard her tears and my little ruse was the last thing on my mind. I just knew that I needed to get to her.
She had left in such a haste and I had been constricted to that damn chair. But now the secret was out. She knew that I could walk. I had been keeping this secure for the past three years since my accident. I didn’t want my enemies to know that I was healed after the stunt they had tried to pull on me.
“So, are we going to talk about the elephant in the car or we are going to pretend like you don’t have full mobility of your legs?”
I came to a traffic stop and turned to meet her eyes. Dove’s eyes were set on my legs as they controlled the large car. She had a look of both confusion and horror on her face.
I couldn’t blame her.
