Mysterious Xia Family

On their journey, no one talked. Kang Xuan and Shen Yue simply closed their eyes tiredly, as they had just gone through an intense action.

Kang Xuan slowly rotated his spiritual key along the wounds, to soothe the pain as much as possible.

Xia Meng, on the other hand, kept giving glances at Kang Xuan through the mirror and side glances at Shen Yue as though she had found out something.

In just fifteen or so minutes, they entered a rich community, and the car zoomed towards a big villa, which resides on the banks of the Yong River.

Shen Yue and Kang Xuan opened their eyes as soon as they felt the car stop. They got a bit stunned at the extremely rich-looking villa and wondered exactly how rich Xia Lan's family is.

"Let me help you carry one of them."

Xia Meng said as she got out of the car, eager to reach Kang Xuan because she knew he was injured.

"It's alright, miss! We are all covered in blood. It's just a few meters away. We can manage that much and you don't need to get this blood on your dress."

Kang Xuan said, as he already carried Xiao Zhang on his back, while Shen Yue also carried David on her back, without wanting Xia Meng to get dirty.

Xia Meng, who just went forward to help, couldn't help but take back her hands before nodding her head.

She felt quite good towards these two, who are quite genuine with their thoughts.

"Alright! Please follow me inside."

Xia Meng said as she led them into the villa. The entire villa is completely lit up, with four women sitting on the couch near the TV as they chat.

"Miss! Is everything alright?"

As they saw Xia Meng coming into the house with bloodied people, they hurriedly came towards her and asked, a bit concerned.

But what surprised Kang Xuan and Shen Yue was that, despite their concern, they didn't appear surprised with how things were going.

The more Shen Yue and Kang Xuan observed, the more puzzled they became with how things are with Xia Meng right now.

From what they understand so far, this Xia family is a very rich family, probably as rich as Wen's or even having some political power.

But from the looks of it, this family is a bit more abnormal than they thought and has more than meets the eye.

They didn't say anything because it didn't bother them and it wouldn't be fair to question those who are assisting them.

They are also bewildered as to why Xia Lan is working as a police officer with her wealth and a mysterious family backing her.

Kang Xuan and Shen Yue looked at each other for a second before looking back at Xia Meng again.

"Please assist them in getting into rooms and also treat those three, little Ji." Xia Ming as she looked at the four of them with a bit of a smile.

"Alright, then, Miss!"

A young woman around Xia Meng's age stepped forward and looked at them as if she would follow whatever command Xia Meng issued.

"Please follow them inside! This girl is a good doctor, and those three also know a thing or two about medicine."

Xia Meng again turned back and spoke to the duo, stunning them a bit. Kang Xuan doesn't know whether to laugh or cry as she looks at the young woman with a round, childish face.

He doubted that this girl would be able to treat the injuries caused by gunshots. What's even worse is that David's situation is a lot worse than his.

Shen Yue also frowned a bit and wanted to say something, as she didn't feel safe leaving Kang Xuan under this big sister, who may have just become a doctor.

She hadn't given David a second thought. To her, it doesn't matter whether he is alive or dead.

But before he said anything, Kang Xuan stepped forward and stopped her from saying whatever she was about to say.

"Thanks, Miss! Please lead the way." He decided to put his trust in Xia Lan and doesn't want to suspect helping hands.

"But-" Shen Yue doesn't want to step back from his safety. But before she said anything, Xia Meng directly interrupted her.

"It's alright, sister Shen! Little Ji is truly a good doctor. Give the man on your back to them. You need to take a shower first to wash away all that blood."

Xia Meng said as she signaled at the other three, who quickly came forward to take David off of Shen Yue, catching her a bit off guard.

Shen Yue and Kang Xuan got a bit stunned at how fast those three moved. That was not the speed of a normal human.

Shen Yue would have easily evaded them if she had been even a bit more prepared, as their speed is not a match for her. But she is kind of exhausted, and Xia Meng, Xia Lan's sister, did make her drop her guard.

Both Kang Xuan and Shen Yue looked at Xia Meng a bit questioningly, as now they needed an answer, or else they would be like livestock ready to be butchered if they were not careful.

"There's no need to be cautious! If I wanted to do something, I would have done it long ago, when you were both completely unprepared, right?"

Xia Meng felt a bit of a headache as she said those words. She then glared at the three other girls, who had made such an obvious mistake by exposing themselves like that.

Those three just stuck their tongues out at Xia Meng a bit naughtily. Xia Meng and Doctor Ji couldn't help but shake their heads at them.

"Who are you?"

Shen Yue asked vigilantly, not loosening her guard even a bit. Kang Xuan, on the other hand, thought for a moment and felt what this girl said was true.

If she had wanted to do something to them, she would have done it a long time ago, when they were unprepared.

"It's alright, senior sister! I think Miss Xia does not have any bad intentions."

Kang Xuan said this as he took a step forward toward the doctor girl, surprising everyone.

Shen Yue hesitated a bit, but still nodded her head, as Kang Xuan is the one who is the 'unofficial leader' of their team, and most importantly, she also has a bit of trust for Xia Lan.

"Please follow me, Mister." Doctor Ji spoke as she led Kang Xuan along with the other three.

"No! He just fainted and doesn't have many injuries."

Kang Xuan noticed doctor Ji observing Xiao Zhan on his back as they walked away.

"Sister Shen Yue! Let's go to my room. You can take a shower there and change your clothes. Don't worry, I have a lot of new clothes."

Xia Meng said as she walked closer but not too close, not wanting Shen Yue to go all alert again.

Still feeling a bit troubled, Shen Yue looked at Kang Xuan going inside the room. She wanted to go there and stay with him... But that would be disrespectful toward Xia Meng.

She then looked at Xia Meng and couldn't help but ask the same question again.

"Who exactly are you?"

"I'm the same as you. I will explain a bit more after you freshen up first."

Xia Meng said as she began to walk towards the villa's second floor.

But that simple sentence was all that Shen Yue needed. She immediately understood that Xia Meng was a cultivator like her.

But what surprised her is how Xia Lan doesn't know about cultivation if her sister is a cultivator.

As they walked to the second floor, Xia Meng led her to the biggest room that she had ever seen. She felt this big sister was a bit too much to be this luxurious as a cultivator.

A cultivator should have the mindset of either going against the heavens or following nature to pursue their dao, or something like that, according to what Shen Yue has read from those novels. Even the Astral Qi technique has such teachings written in it.

Shen Yue obviously didn't understand them in depth, but she at least felt that riches wouldn't be of any interest to her.

Of course, it's only the secular riches she is thinking about. If it is something that can reduce the amount of cultivation time, she would never miss that.

Xia Meng said as she introduced her room to Shen Yue a bit excitedly, making Shen Yue look at her a bit weirdly.

Xia Meng also felt that she was a bit too enthusiastic and couldn't help but hurriedly stop with an apologetic smile on her face.

"Sorry about that! I haven't had many guests here, so I was a bit... Don't mind about that. I will leave now and wait downstairs. Once you come down, we can chat, and I will make some coffee for the both of us."

Xia Meng said as she quickly walked away from there, a bit embarrassed at how she behaved, losing her calm and showing her enthusiasm in front of a stranger that she just met.
