Chapter 39: Think Tank
“Everyone settled?” I ask as I pull a pillow into my lap.
We’re holed up in the living room, having changed into comfy clothes. Bridgette brought in trays of snacks and refreshments for us and she is staying in the Castle for the evening as well. I offered to have guards escort her home but she decided to stay around in case I needed anything else.
Maria has squared away Isabella and Queen Amaya. Lucas instructed them to remain in her quarters for the rest of the night. Isabella is already asleep but Queen Amaya is probably pacing her room. Maria will be up all night with her and Amaya has also brought Maria’s entire family to the island to make sure they are safe and Maria can still see them. They also have a team of guards outside covering their rooms as well.
“So, are you finally going to tell us what’s been happening tonight?” Jackie sips on a mug of hot chocolate and looks over the rim at me.
