Mum's reaction

I enter my car and drive home I walk slowly into the house how will mum react with she sees me coming back empty-handed with no dog. I took a deep breath and open the door of our house I walk in and see everyone eating at the dining table and I join them.

“Good evening dad." I greeted

“Evening my son have you seen the dog?” he ask I sigh and open my mouth.

“Gosh! how do I put this," I mumbled?

“Put what?” just say what you want to say," Rachael replied

“I can’t find the dog in school and the security man told me he has looked everywhere but he didn’t find any dog," I replied and my mum and Rachael gasps

 “How can you guys be so careless don‘t you know a dog is like a human” my mum scoffed

“Yes, mum but I will find a way to look for him," I replied

“Look for him? How can you guys be so careless on the second day of taking care of a pet am so disappointed in you," My mum said dropping her spoon on the table.

“Sorry I lost my appetite," she said and leaves. I look at my dad and stroke my hair backwards I knew right this instant that he wanted to say something.

“Steve you know your mum like animals and she doesn’t like someone being careless when it comes to animals,  I think you should act responsibly and look for your dog.” He stated.

“I have already tried looking for it but it’s no use Dad what do you want me to do?" I ask with a frown.

“Try harder Steve, you can just print flyers or stickers and place it all over town that you are looking for a dog, didn’t you say the dog is for your school project?" He inquired

“Yes it is Dad, I will take your advice me and Rachael we go look for it tomorrow.” I declared. And she sighs

“I  can’t believe the two of you are so careless not responsible at all," he stated standing up to go.

I lean to whisper in Rachael’s ear

“The funniest thing is we are not going to look for the dog,” I muttered

“What!! So what are we going to do then.” She asks with her mouth wide open.

“I don’t know what you guys are talking about but am going to bed.” My Dad said carrying Lily from the chair she was sleeping.

I watch my dad walk to Lily’s room and turn to Rachael and give her an evil smirk.

“What are we going to do?" She asks

“Easy we are going to go to the pet store, buy a new dog and replace it with our old dog,” I muttered smiling.

“You are so smart, if it was my money I would have objected but as it is your money I support you.” She grinned.

“Who knows you can be so greedy,” I said and she stand up from the chair.
