After Jack received his driver's license, he decided to find a quiet spot downstairs to rest while waiting for Lena to finish her test. The summer sun was too hot. Jack wiped the sweat from his brow, scanning the area for a place to sit. Nearby, he noticed a small shaded spot under a tree, the perfect place to hide from the sun.
He made his way over and found Samantha already sitting there, leaning against the trunk, her eyes half-closed in relaxation. Jack smiled, approaching her. "Mind if I join?"
Samantha opened her eyes and smiled warmly, patting the spot next to her. "Go ahead."
Jack plopped down beside her, enjoying the cool shade for a moment. He glanced over at Samantha, noticing how the sunlight filtering through the leaves danced across her face, casting soft shadows. His gaze lingered just a second too long, and Samantha caught him looking.
She raised an eyebrow, a playful smirk tugging at her lips. "Admiring the view, huh?"
Jack chuckled, caught off guard but not embarrassed. "Can you blame me? You look… well, a little too good."
Samantha tilted her head, eyes sparkling with amusement. "Too good, huh? Well, I know that for my whole life."
Before Jack reply, they heard a voice.
"Sam! Jack!"
They both turned, spotting Lena bounding toward them from across the courtyard, practically bouncing with excitement. Her face was flushed, her skin shiny with sweat, but the grin she wore could light up the entire area.
"I passed! I actually passed the make-up exam!" Lena shouted, waving enthusiastically as she made her way over.
Samantha stood up from the bench, "That's great, Lena! I'm proud of you. It's not easy to pass these tests."
"Well, it's good..." Jack said.
Lena reached them, still brimming with excitement, catching her breath as she stood in front of them. "I was so nervous at first, but I did it! No more retakes for me!"
Samantha chuckled, patting Lena's back. "See? You worried for nothing."
Lena, still riding the high of her success, suddenly perked up as another idea hit her. "You know what this calls for, right?"
Jack and Samantha exchanged glances. "What?" Jack asked, half-expecting her answer.
"Lunch!" Lena declared, eyes wide with excitement. "We should go out and have a nice meal to celebrate. I know just the place—my favorite spot!"
Samantha smiled at the suggestion, "A celebration sounds good to me. What do you think, Jack?"
Jack pretended to consider for a moment before nodding with a grin. "Can't say no to food, especially when we're celebrating."
Lena clapped her hands together. "Great! You guys are gonna love this place."
The three of them made their way to the car. Lena led the way, practically skipping ahead, still buzzing from her success. Samantha and Jack followed close behind, exchanging amused glances at Lena's infectious energy.
By the time they reached Samantha's car, Lena was already eagerly chatting about the how she passed the test, how she drive the car.
She even asked Samantha, to let her drive but Samantha told no, telling her to wait until she get her driving licence in the hand.
Lena pouted but didn't argue much.
