My Nerd Is a Lil' Bunny

"Jamie! Hurry up or else every ride in the park will be taken again!" I saw a small boy yell to his friend, who was struggling to catch up to him. He was smaller though they looked almost the same age. He was not only small but very cute. His eyes are big and sparkling with curiosity. His blonde hair, long but soft and fluffy.

"Wait up, Dennis," said the little boy.

"You're so slow, here take my hand." He held out his small hand with a smile, letting the other boy grab him.

"Let's keep running."

"Yeah!" The little boy exclaimed with a bright smile that melted even the coldest hearts. A bright light shined as they ran into the abyss, that's when I woke up. It was a dream that I never wanted to wake up from.

*Knock Knock*

"Jamie honey, wake up or else you'll be late for school." My mom called out. I woke up from my bed sluggishly, I'm not much of a morning person. I washed up and wore a big blue hoodie with black ripped skinny jeans. I looked into the mirror and saw my small frame. No matter what I wore I always looked small. I mean I was only 115 lbs for a 15-year-old. 15 come on! And I wasn't tall either, I was only 5'0.5". I hated that.

I went downstairs and the aroma of pancakes and bacon hit me. My favorite. I ran into the kitchen, then I heard confetti guns go off.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!" my family yelled on top of their lungs. How could I forget? It was my birthday today.

"Oh, Jamie darling," my mom gave me a big sloppy mom kiss, which I didn't mind. "Did you forget? Happy 16th birthday. I'm so happy, my baby is finally 16."

"He doesn't look like one though." My big brother ruffled my hair, making it a mess.

"Joseph, be nice to your brother," my mom complained, "And did you with him?"

"Yeah, yeah. Happy Birthday, squirt." He said trying to grab a piece of bacon when my dad swatted his hand away.

"The birthday boy gets the first bite, that's the rule." My dad hugged me, "Happy birthday little buddy." We sat down and ate my birthday breakfast. "Oh Jamie, don't forget you have to be home by 8 for your birthday dinner." My mom squealed happily. She loved anything with celebration.

"Okay!" I was really excited, I loved our family birthday dinner. It was like an all you can eat buffet.

I left for school, and Dennis was waiting for me out in my yard.

"Happy Birthday Jamie." He wished me as he handed a gift to me.

"Oh, Dennis, you shouldn't have. Thanks though."

"No problem, and I know you're going to love it."

"Can I open it now?"

"How about when we get to school? If you open it now, you're going to obsess over it and we are going to get late."

"Okay, then let's hurry." I ran in excitement. Dennis followed behind me but soon it became me following him. When we reached school, we went to our usual spot. I rushed to open my gift, it was a pusheen eating a donut keychain.

"OMG!!! It's pusheen!!! Thank you, thank you thank you!!!" I jumped into his arms giving him a tight hug.

"Haha! I'm glad you like it."

"Like it, I LOVE IT!" I said letting go. A blush crept my cheeks. But I was happy. I loved everything about Pusheen and Dennis. Dennis was my childhood friend, whom I've been in love with forever. I loved him but couldn't tell him that I did. I'm what you might call a lost cause.

"Dennis!" she called out and lunged at him from behind.

"Jane!" She was his girlfriend. Now you get what I meant. She gave him a small peck on his lips and jumped at me, hugging me so tight that I almost lost circulation.

"Dennis, no fair, you gave him his gift before me. I thought you and I were going to give it to him together." She huffed, "Anyways, Happy Birthday Jamie," she said, pecking my cheeks, "Here, this is for you." She handed me a present. It almost looked like the one Dennis gave me. I opened it and it was another pusheen keychain, but it was a unicorn pusheen instead.

"OMG!!! Jane, thank you!!!" I said hugging her. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate her, I love her, and Dennis did too. She was bubbly, she was pretty, there was nothing to like about her.

"So Jamie, what's your plan for today," Jane asked, I just shrugged my shoulders. I didn't have anything planned until dinner. "Oh okay. Then we can go to the arcade or the mall or the pizza place with the arcade in the mall." Man, she was very excited even though it was my birthday.

"Okay, let's do that. But I need to be home by 8, for a family birthday dinner."

"Even after all the pizza?"

"Girl, have you met me?" She giggled. The bell rang and we parted our ways. Dennis and Jane had their first period together, that's where he met her. I had to hurry since my class was farthest away. I kept running without looking ahead of me and I bumped into a wall. Thought it was a wall.

"You okay, Lil Bunny?"
