My Moon’s Shield

[On Hiatus] The long-lost heir to a fallen lineage was rumoured to be walking around the Asian continent. Aphie’s life purpose as crown’s Moon is to fight for the king, protect the king and die before the king. As she is attacked by the crown’s rivals, the crown’s shield, Chris comes into her life bringing nothing but doom to her duties. Chris has always been a bit psychotic and Aphie always hated him for how he was. Yet their ventures together in search of the crown (king) spark a tale that is filled with roses but also thorns. Read the whole story from switching points of view between both Aphie and Chris. ———— This is my first every writing and is currently on a halt since my focus is on the other stories. There will be a lot of mistakes in this as I practically wrote it two years ago...I hope you understand. Will soon get to its editing and continue the work ;)

A lovely name

He immediately let go of me as a sudden realization set into him, he looked at me with a different and a terrified expression. I had lost too much blood for an already weak body. I flopped down on the ground, tears streaming down my face as the sensation of pain turned into numbness. Every thing started to blur around me as I failed to hold onto my consciousness once again.

I could see chris running outside and getting something from the living room. He delicately held my hand up and I could feel the spirit on my wounds, it hurt so bad but I barely even had strength for reflexes. As I was falling unconscious he gave me some water to drink, it put some life in me but I was still tired.

He was done dressing the wounds in mere minutes. With the most delicate touch, chris picked me off the ground and slowly walked to the bed 'His touch is frustrating, so horrifying! I hate every bit of it'. He gently placed me on the bed, adjusted the pillow properly, pulled the blanket on top of me, turned the AC to a perfect temperature to get me as comfortable as possible and went away from the bed. He took the first aid kit he had brought with him and went out closing the door behind him.

As he went out and I was alone in the room, I started feeling more comfortable, more relaxed. Tears I had been holding back finally trickled down my face, they were not of pain or fear, they were for the failure that I have been, the incompetency I had brought upon myself and the disappointment that I have been to my Dad. As sadness swept in, all the emotional and physical pain caused a turbulence in me. I needed some rest on priority basis so I submitted myself to my unconscious and went into my deep slumber once again.

It was late at night when only the dogs were seen around, I was chasing a car that was far long gone. The little me was lost and scared, there was nowhere to go on that abandoned road all I could do was run in the hope to see the car or atleast see anyplace that looked like my home. My energy had drained but I couldn't stop now not here in this place!

I had been running for too long, but I couldn't stop I was scared, I had to run! The cold weather was catching up on my lungs, it was winter and suddenly it started snowing. The first snow of the year and the first snow of my life. I stopped where I was, right in the middle of the street taking in the cold breeze and the beautiful touch of the snowflakes falling slowly from the skies. I knew what was wrong, it never snowed where we used to live! This was a whole new place, there was nowhere this running was taking me, it was completely hopeless!

I looked around and there were houses but I have always been nervous of meeting new people, I could never do it right. I muttered up some courage and walked to a house, I just could knock on the door. But I stood there for hours waiting for a miracle to happen but no one came out. Just then I heard someone approaching on the street, He sounded drunk so I decided to hide myself around the bush till he was gone. I was too tired from all the running cold was catching up in my lungs, somehow while I waited for that drunken lunatic to pass by I fell asleep.

I don't know how long it was but I felt strong hands lift my tiny body up, It felt like a miracle. I opened my eyes to see a man dressed in all black. "Wa...ter...water, please...I need some...water" I tried to talk louder hoping he would understand, I finally felt like I was saved. Just then other hand came with an handkerchief right on my face, I was shocked, I needed water just some water! is he trying to kill me? kidnap me? Of what good would a small girl like me be to this person!? I struggled to get myself free as I started smelling the liquid on the cloth. I started throwing my hands and legs in every direction for defense, screaming till my parched throat started to hurt, but there was nothing I could do. Someone! Just anyone! help me!

"Help!..." I woke with a jolt only to find myself on cozy warm bed. The window was open and it was snowing outside yet I was drenched in sweat, I looked around and saw that fire was lit in the fireplace and I was alone in the room. As I recovered from my dream I started to realize what had happened earlier. A sudden panic set in as I recalled the event, my wounds felt numb and although I was able to move my hands I didn't feel them properly 'Must be some anesthetic for the pain'

I tried to get down from the bed, surprisingly I had lot more strength then I did before. I was able to stand up, the pain from the previous injuries and the effect of the poison had gone. All the recovery left was from the wounds that chris gave me.

Well they want me alive afterall if they had to they could have killed me by now. 'might as well take advantage of the fact Aphie!' I walked to the window and closed it pulling the curtains as well, It doesn't usually snow in this part of the Maldives 'or are we even in Maldives! who knows' but it must be around December I guess. I walked to the fireplace and sat on the chair embracing the warmth.

The door clicked and I turned around to look who it was, there was an aged women properly dressed and looked like a care taker probably someone to look after my wellbeing . To be honest this was better 'It is better than having to look at chris at this moment' I kept my hand on my chest and talked to my heart as I always do 'We will be fine, promise I will get us out of here safe mara!' The recurring nightmares brought back some very bad memories and the name this heart belonged to.

"How are you feeling dear? you have been asleep for sometime now" the lady spoke in a rough yet very soothing voice. I didn't turn to look at her "I feel fine ma'am, thank you for your care" She walked up to me and stood by my side, "Here is some warm soup it will give you strength" I looked at her for some time and then took the soup bowl from her "Thank you ma'am" I replied.

"Be careful, the soup is hot. It is infused with herbs so the taste might not be to your liking but I insist you drink it all" I looked at her and then back at the soup, I looked at it with an expression of a 10 year old told to eat broccoli. She laughed slightly and asked for the bowl, "If I may dear let me feed it to you properly your arms must be hurting"

I handed her the bowl, she slowly took the soup taking a spoonful and started feeding it to me. I cringed my face 'This does taste purely therapeutic'. She laughed again, "Pardon me dear I couldn't make a tasty soup but this a necessity for your body right now, it will help you heal faster". Her laugh was so comforting it made me smiled, "I understand ma'am, it doesn't taste that bad". She smiled at me giving me another spoonful to which I cringed my face again but had it anyways.

"Please don't refer to me as ma'am dear, call me by my name" she said as she continued feeding the soup to me one spoon at a time carefully blowing on it so I don't burn my tongue. There was silence for some time and then I spoke up, "What is your name?" she looked at me delighted "SAMARA"; she said the name and my heart skipped a beat, "its a lovely name; Samara" I replied smiling at her. 'She has the same name!'.
