Chapter 27: Malice
Luci’s POV:
My alarm chimed next to my ear as I lay in bed. Even with the curtains drawn, I could see sunlight peaking around the edges of the fabric.
It had been like that for a while. I had hoped to get some sleep the night before, but the more I fought to sleep, the stronger the urge to overthink became.
At some point, I’d given up and brewed a batch of chamomile tea in the hopes that I could get myself to sleep naturally.
Unfortunately for me, the tea didn’t do a d*mn thing. Three glasses and still there wasn’t a shred of relief when I tried to get back to bed.
I tapped the button to shut off the alarm and started to get myself ready.
I took a quick shower and managed to keep my curls from getting wet. It wasn’t worth the effort to style them just to meet Alex, so I already resigned myself to a low bun.
